Comments: If there are any surviving members of VA-95 that served aboard The Phil.Sea CVA-47 between'52 and '54 who might remember my father,I would like to hear from you.I know very little about his service.I was told he was in flight deck support, and that he pulled a pilot from a burning plane. He died 10/17/1957 from a service related illness. This was one month before my first birthday. The papers I recieved from the veterans admin.using his DD-214 service number do not show what his duties were.I do have some pictures of him on a Skyraider and a Panther. He said he worked on the radar but I really don't know much about his time aboard ship. He was proud of his time in the Navy and loved carriers. If you have any information to share with me, I'd love to hear from you. I have two young sons who would love to hear more about their grandfathers time in the Navy.

Comments: Hi,
Does anyone remember my Dad, Charlie Pole? He was from Oregon.
I don't know much about his service, but I do know that he served on the USS Philippine Sea, CVA-47. I also know that he was on board for SURE in 1953. I think he said that he was a "Gunner", but I'm not real sure.
He had to leave the service on a medical emergency because my Mom got in a serious auto accident and he had to come home.
I'm trying to get together a book of rememberances to give him for Christmas. I would like to include in it stories or photos or anything like that. In addition I would like to give him a list of names and address/E:Mail addresses of old shipmates if possible.
Please contact me if you remember my Dad, Charlie [Charles] Pole from Oregon and have anything to contribute I sure would appreciate it.
Thank you for any help that you can give me in this project.

Am looking up the name of a Navy man who was stationed on the USS

Japan, while on an R & R.
I don't know where to find his name listed. His name was Robert J.
Lawson and he was my fiance. Because he was not killed in action, will
his name be ommitted from any memorials and if not, why?
Drowned July 12, 1953 in Kamkura Bay, Japan while on liberty. Was
assigned to Phil Sea. He was attached to VC3 out of Moffett Field.
He is buried in Ft. Lewis, Wa. because his father had been in the Army
