Comments: My wife's grandfather recently passed away. He rarely ever mentioned or talked about his time in the Navy. All we really know is he served on the Ammunition ship USS PARICUTIN (AE-18) during the Korean War. If anyone has a photo of him or a roster or ship log notes or anyone remembers Jim or James T Letts; Please contact me with any information. Thank you. Chuck T

Comments: I served on board the Pukey P from Nov 1965 to July 1969. I was in 1st division the whole time. I've been in contact with a few of the guys for about five years now. Like Jack Dudenhoffer, Bruce McCukuchen to name a couple. I would like to hear from somemore if there are any left alive. I tried to forget my Navy days but found I could'nt. Oh well when it comes down to it after all the BS we had a great time. Oh I almost forgot. One of the guys I was in contact with was Jim Polsrra, But unfortunately Jim passed a year or so ago. He had a web sight going but it does'nt anymore. Well, I hope to hear from someone real soon.

Comments: I recently talked to Bernard Griebel Sargent. Ne, 308-527-3778 and found out he served on the Paricutin from 50 to 53. He came aboard as a FA and left as A MM2. Bernard does not have a computer but would welcome calls or letters.Sargent is small enough that letters would reach him at Bernard Griebel, Sargent, Ne. 68874. He does remember several other sailors that served aboard.

Comments: My dad served on the USS Paricutin during World War II, I am putting together a scrap book for him. Anyone out there that served on the ship during that period? I believe my dad worked primarily on communications and radar equipment. If anyone has any pictures or information from that period I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

John

Comments: Please forgive the sad nature of this posting and my intrusion into your group. I happened to be at a house sale today in Stinson Beach, just north of San Francisco, for the estate of Lt Cmdr Wesley Chessman. I did not know him, but I brought home some of his items--including a photo album from his service with hundreds of pictures of various people he worked with (and civilians) in Japan, Korea and elsewhere, and lots of shots of the Paricutin.

I'd be happy to scan whatver pictures anyone would be interested in, and send them to you as an e-mail attachment. If anyone is interested, please let me know soon. I'll be putting his uniforms, medals, some loose photos of the Paricutin, and the photo album up on eBay in about a week, but I wanted to give anyone the chance to get free copies of any photos first. I've taken a couple of snapshots of the sort of pictures there are, which can be seen at www.hedonia.net/paracutin .

Also, if anyone can tell me anything about Lt Cmdr Chessman's military career prior to the Paracutin (especially during WWII) I'd be very interested.

God bless you all, and thank you for your sacrifice.

Regards --

Robert Haines
