Comments: Boarded the Orca when she was in Vallejo, Ca. drydock. Served aboard from 9/51 to 7/54. She stayed in far-east service for little time after. When we sailed out of North Island,Ca., in the wee hours of 1/5/53, we thought we would be back in 12 months - later found out we were non-rotational (ship stays but we would be relieved after certain months of duty.) Good duty, saw many beautiful sights, visited many interesting countries, great duty in Hong Kong. Many, many fond memories. Went on temporary duty with VP-46,PBM squadron based at Sangley Point,Phillipines due to their shortage of radio operators. Good duty.

Comments: I served aboard the USS Orca as Communications Officer from 1954 to early 1956. Still remember the call letters which were NCAF. If anyone sees this who was around in those days or who is looking for anyone who might have been aboard at that time, I'd be pleased to hear from you and glad to share any info that I have.
Best wishes,
Steve Steinberg
