Comments: Served on the ship from Jan. 1958 to Decommissioning at Mare Island in 1960. Would like to find anyone from that time period. I have many pictures and mostly slides of our tours over seas, lots of the shipmates. These years were the finest of my life, but I did not think so at the time. Thanks for reading my message, hope you can respond. Take Care, Norm

Comments: My father Walter LeRoy Winsett served on the USS Onslow in Korea. If any one knew him or have any information to pass on that would be great. I am doing a family history book and want to include his service. When he was discharge, one of his bags was stolen and he lost all of his medals and papers. If anyone could help that would be great. Thanks Dan Winsett

He recently passed on (4/30/04) but his great stories will remain with me forever.

Comments: My dad, Frank Royal served on the Onslow, or the "oh so slow" as my mom told me, in the early 50's. He died of colon cancer at age 23, just after his service ended. I've always wondered if Dad's ship was present for nuclear testing... He was in Korea, and visited Hong Kong, and was a member of the Neptune club. CR
