Comments: Looking for J.D. Clements, Patterson, 'Dog', Mr Mac, any others who shared adventures with me on this floating fuel station around '67-'68. 'Navasota' is named after a river with an 'Indian' name. All US Navy Oilers were. I don't know if the tradition continues.

secret North Korea mission revealed

allan strawn wrote on 2001-11-02 20:19:46.0

Comments: It had been a routine Pacific crossing toward our destination of Subic Bay, Phillipines. Three days before our schelduled arrival at Subic, we received word that the U.S.S. Pueblo had been captured by the North Koreans and was being held as a spy ship. Which in fact it was. The Navasota was diverted, as was two carrier fleets, to North Korea as a show of strength. It was the coldest spot on earth to me. We stayed almost 6 months but the North Koreans were not intimidated. I am sure you all know the story of the U.S.S. Pueblo, but now you know that the U.S.S. Navasota played a major role in this historic event.

Crew List wanted

From: BDY405@aol.com

Subject: USS Navasota (AO-106)

I was aboard the Navasota from 1952 thru 1954 and had 4 Korean
tours. Is a list of crew members for that time period available.

It was our mission to refuel the Seventh Fleet ships along the "bombline"
off the coast of Korea. Also we refueled at other places in the
Pacific as we were needed.

If any read this, e-mail me at bdy405@aol.com.
