Comments: Avid in genealogy research, I am searching for the only son of my father's sister. In her will (1958) she shows an address for him, Robert William Lemoine, as USS Mount Katmai, AE-16, Fleet P.O., SF, California. He was probably born around 1930 in California. Her full name was Viola Mabel Cordonier, and she passed away in 1962. From what I have been able to learn, they were estranged. If anyone remembers him or has any information helpful to my search, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you. Maggie

Comments: Like so many others, I'm looking for anyone who served with my father, Ronie Stanford, during the Korean War. He passed on to be with the Lord in June 2002. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who served with him and could comment on any "stories" they might have. I appreciate your service to our country! Roger.Stanford@bellsouth.com

Comments: My stepfather, Dale DeBolt served as a cook on the USS Mt. Katmai during the Korean war. I recently found out he had lost his only photo of the ship due to water damage. I am looking for anyone how could send me a photo of the ship.

If anyone served with and remembered Dale a hello from an old friend would also be great. Dale will be 72 in January 2005. Dale has 5 children and 6 step-children. He lives in Westerville Ohio and retired from the City of Westerville Parks and Recreation Department.

Thank and God Bless you all.

Comments: Found this site looking into some of my dad's history and just wondering if anyone out there remembers my father Charles Coley. He served on the Katmai during Korea, early 50's. He loved that ship, his mates and often told stories of the big battle wagons plastering the Korean coast. Dad passed away summer of 1996. I have a number of photos from his time on board. Only name I can identify is a Bobby Black, though there are others in the photos. Well, if my dad had known this site existed he would have visited so I thought in his memory I'd just send a hello to the gents of the Katmai.

Comments: Would like to hear from any shipmates during the Nam period.

Keywords: I reported to the "Kitty" in 1964 in Port Chicago. Did an extended Viet Nam tour, came back in late 1965. Started as a "Deck Ape" and became a QM...turned out to be the best rate in the Navy. Had one hell of a time aboard her. I remember Gib Coulter, a Signalman from California, Lt.(jg) Ferguson, the Navigator...Capt. Jesse Norton. Chief Boats was named Knudsen. I was on the helm when the Katmai collided with the carrier Independence. Turned out the Independence had a gyro error and it wasn't our fault! I have a few photos and lots of good memories.
