Comments: I previously left my Brother's name off., but he was ROY EDWARD RUDDER,JR. He was my Brother, he passed away from Cancer in 1987. He talked a lot about his "Buddies", I don't remember any names. If any one remembers him, I would like to hear about him while he was on that Ship. He was HONORED to have served his Country. He joined when he was 17 years old, and I was 13. He was a dedicated Man and could cut cut some (very little). If anyone out there remembers him, please let me know about him while they were together, and I will be forever grate- ful, because I am now 65 years old.

Mispillion - Lee Adams

Lee H. Adams wrote on 2000-06-10 14:05:15.0

Comments: 5 engagements. Friends: RMC Croze, RM3 Bobby Smith, RMSN Dillahay, RM2 E.E.Erwin, BMC Cicconne The Mispillion was ordered to Sasebo,Japan to take on oil and petrol for the many U.S. Naval ships that had already arrrived from various parts of the globe. I was a radioman and would like to find old shipmates who served with me aboard her.

We were in many engagements during my 2 1/2 years on that tanker. Sure would be nice to contact old shipmates like Chief Croze, RM, Dillahay, RM, Bobbie Smith, RM, E.E. Erwin, RM. I was 18 years old when the shit hit the fan at the 38th. I am now 68.5 and health is bad. Thanks for this very neat program which I am sure has done so well to reconnect old soldiers and sailors. Lee Adams, RM3/c USN.

Looking for shipmates who served with me aboard the Mispillion from June, 1950 to December of 1952 during the Korean war.

I was a radioman, about 18 years old when I boarded her at Long Beach. We were in the Marshalls when the war broke out. We were dispatched to Sasebo, Japan and then on to the 7th Fleet operating in the northern seas of Korea. I remember CPO Croze, Dillahay, E.E. Erwin, Bobbie Smith and two other guys whose name slips my 68 year old memory. One of them repaired the teletype machine and the other guy was an RM1 who made chief. We were all radiomen. I got 20 hours for cussing out the cook and did the time in one of the tanks, scraping and painting.

We were nearly hit by a stick of bombs dropped by a MIG15 near Wonsan Harbor. I saw the damn MIG drop them and thought we had bought the farm. Bombs missed us and exploded in the river. We visited Hong Kong a few times. We played softball and drank beer on Eniwetok and Buckner Bay, Okinawa. I had a friend who I named HOSENOSE Riley. Another pal, short guy, Italain, named Sirronia or Ciccone or something. Wife died from tetanus after stepping on a nail while they were adding a room to their home.

Wonderful friends aboard the U.S.S Mispillion whom I have not seen or heard of in 47 years. We refueled the Boxer, Philliipine Sea, all DD'S and DDE'S, all carriers, all BB'S, all heavy cruisers, such as the Toledo and so many more. The Cimarron (AO-22) and Kaskaskia were doing their good jobs there also. I miss my old friends and would give anything to hear from any or all of them. I have terminal cancer and will be "checking out" pretty soon.

God bless you all. Lee H. Adams
