Comments: I served on LST 503 the first part of 1946 in China - kowloon to Manchuria with Chinese Nationalist troops. We then went to Sub Bay, PI where everything was removed - most simply thrown over the side, and it was supposed to be given to the Philipping government on July4, 1946. Was it? I can't say for sure, but that was the plan as we stripped her clean.

Comments: Buford, I sent you an email because for some reason I couldn't find this site earlier, so this will be a duplicate. Sorry. My father, served aboard the LST 503 in the Korean War. My parents took a trip in February and one of their stops was the LST 325 in Mobile, Alabama. They were lucky enough to get a tour enve tho it wasn't done yet. They are thinking about going in September.
They do not have a computer at home so they don't have email or internet. I did some searching and printed off information for my Dad. He is now very excited to learn more.
Any information you could email me, fax to him or direct me to an internet site would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much,
Becky Rice (daughter)
