Comments: I was transferred from Norfolk to Yokuska Japan in June 1950 to recommission LST 1048. She had been sailing on merchant marine service for Japan, but was urgently needed for Korean service. We made the invasion of Inchon, after being towed thru a typhoon (stbd. engine breakdown). Then made landings at Wonsan, Taechon plus transferring POW's and refugees to Cheju and Koge islands. Finally sailed to the States mid 1951 and I left her in Dec. 1951.
