I think of the hours we searched in hostle waters off Korea trying to locate airman from a downed aircraft. The Keppler was dead in the water with all engines and machinery stopped. Each shipmate was on deck with his hands cupped behind his ears to listen for a human cry in distress. It never came. After 10-12 hrs we rejoined the Task Force. Keywords: On Formosa Straits Patrol; Operated with Task Force 77 east coast of Korea; escorted USS Missouri into Hungnam Harbor for sonar patrol while she shore bombarded during evacuation of land forces.
