FATHER SERVED ON THIS SHIP DURING KOREAN WAR |
| MIKE SCOTT wrote on February 2, 2004 City and State: WICHITA FALLS TX Unit: N/A Service or Relationship: FAMILY MEMBER Comments: My father didn't speak much of any of the wars he was in (WWII, Korea, and Vietnam). But he did tell me of the USS Hoquiam. I found some of his old papers after his death that had the Hoquiam's name on them. He told me he lost a very dear friend on the Hoquiam that he had served with in WWII. Never told me his name. Told me they were hit by communist fire while on patrol. Talked to me once about blasting shore installations. I wish I knew more. My fathers name was Melvin Clinton Scott. He passed away back in 1996. He served on the USS Hoggatt Bay in WWII and the Hoquiam in the Korean War. Keywords: |
