Comments: I work for a law firm investigating the conditions and asbestos on board the USS Hank in the early 1950s. Any information you can provide would be very helpful to our case. Thank you and God bless.

Comments: My Father, Carl E. Korby served as Radarman on the USS Hank from 1953 to 1957(?) during which time he lost my oldest sister to SIDS. Sometime after that, he was granted home-duty somewhere in Pennsylvania. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can tell me about any experience on the Hank from 1953-1957 and of course anything specifc about my father. He did not speak much of his service on the Hank and all I know is that he was a radarman and a sharpshooter.

Comments: My father was an electrician's mate serving during the Korean War on the USS Hank. He passed away in October 2004. He had shared some of his US Navy stories (particularly about riding out a hurricane aboard the Hank) but would love to hear from anyone that remembers "Ding". He also served aboard the USS Little Rock. God Bless all those that served and those now serving.

Comments: I am writing to see if anyone knew Ferd Boehme aboard Hank during the Korean War. I am a friend and former shipmate of his son and daughter, both former naval officers. Mr. Boehme passed away last August (2003) and he is sorely missed. I would appreciate any observations and especially sea stories from his old shippies. God bless America and our navy.

Comments: I was transferred from the U.S.S. Waldron DD-699 in January 1950. The Waldron was scheduled to be decommissioned. Went aboard the Hank DD-702. While the ship was refitted and training out of GITMO, we were dispatched to Japan & Korea, leaving on September 6, 1950. We were part of the blockade of Korean ports and participated in the invasion of Inchon. We provided fire support for the evacuation of Wonsan and Hungnam. The evacuation fo Hungnam was considered a Christmans to remember and it is. We continued our fire support and blockade of Korean Ports until our return to Norfolk, VA in June 1951. Happy Holidays and God Bless America!!
