Comments: Just wondering if anyone else will be attending the USS Hamul reunion in Seattle this year? This will be my father's first time attending a reunion of this sort, and I know he is looking forward to reconnecting with former shipmates. My father, Ed Zack (Zachwieja) was a Quartermaster on the Hamul from 52-53. Please feel free to e-mail me if you're going to this reunion. Thanks!

Comments: I am not a Korean War vet, but I served aboard the Hamul in 1960 for 6 or 7 months. I was an Opticalman 2nd class and in charge of the optical repair shop in the Repair Div. I was discharged while aboard the Hamul in Dec. of 1960 in Long Beach, CA. I believe that the Hamul was then headed for the East coast to be de-commisioned. My strongest memories of the Hamul were of the movie "The Wackiest Ship in the Navy". Part of it was filmed along side in Pearl Harbor. It wasn't an academy award film, but Hamul survivers might want to rent that movie and relive a few memories. It starred Jack Lemmon and Ricky Nelson.

Comments: I am looking for any shipmates who remember my Dad, Edward Zack (Zachwieja in the service) from his time aboard the USS Hamul AD 20 in 1953. He served as a Quartermaster aboard the ship. He remembers a Maurice Goff from Indiana, but hasn't been able to come up with other names. He'd really like to have a list of shipmates to see if other names look familiar to him. He knows they went to Japan to dock. Pictures from that time would be great! Thanks for any help!

Comments: My father, Harold E. Good, proudly served on the USS Hamul AD 20, from 1950-1952 in ommunications. I am very happy, and proud, to be his daughter and would like to communicate with other crewmembers that might have served with my dad. All messages will be promptly relayed to Dad, and I'm sure he would love to hear from his buddies! Dad refuses to own a computer so, I'm the link to the past regarding his military career. As the wife of a military member myself, I wish to say "Thank You" to the crew of the USS Hamul for your bravery and service to God & country!

His name is Orville Lee Christy and he now lives in WV, he has let me borrow his picture of the ship and there is a few more ships pictured with it. Does anyone out there by chance remember serving with him? If so or if interested in the picture please drop me a email, Thanks.

Comments: I was wondering if anyone who may read this might have known my father. He served on the U S S Hamul. His name is Thomas Lee Vince. He was born and raised in Ohio. He served twenty-three years of active duty in the United States Navy. He had good memories and great stories. He went to a reunion back in Tennessee. He died in 1995 of congestive heart failure. I was wondering if I could get a flag from the United States Navy to commemorate his years of faithful service and so that I could use it to help me remember what a great American he was. I could buy a hundred flags but it would mean so much more to me if I had a flag sent to me from the USN for their gratitude of him. Thanks to anyone for helping me. I have the flag that was given to my father from the Navy when his brother died. It would mean so much. Thank you and God Bless you all.

sincerely, Jeffrey Joel Vince

You do not list his ship, but I am holding a letter from him dated
January 2, 1951, mailed fom Sasebo, Japan. He mentioned the battleship
Missouri being anchored near the Hamul.

Will you do some checking to see if the Hamul should be added to your
