Comments: Hello, I am looking for shipmate of my late father Robert Morris Jones. He was discharged from the nave in September 1951. I have been told he was aboard the USS Halsey Powell DD686 During the Korean war.
I would like to hear from any of his shipmate or any old Navy buddies he had. He was originally from Idabel Okalahoma and Married my mom and moved to Boston MA, 3 days after his discharge on September 6th 1951.
Thank you, Neil Jones

Comments: My father, Arthur Melvin Reece, served as an eletricain mate on the Haley Powell during the Korean War (1951-55). He was a native of North Carolina. His nickname was Buck, but I am not sure if he used that during his time in Navy. I am trying to connect with any of his shipmates and friends. I am very interested in his life and duties aboard the Halsey Powell. Please contact me with any information.

Comments: Just seeing if anybody remembers Glen Hanne- he's my grandfather and he served on the Halsey Powell from July of 1951 to June of 1954. He says he's attended all but one of the reunions, so most of you probably have met him in one of the recent ones. If you've missed out, however, and want to talk to him again, his phone number is (714) 761-8249.

More:
I am still working on the Korean War History of the Halsey Powell
(DD686). Incidently, I came across some interesting information about
the USS Essex CV 9 (Task Force 77). We were in plane gaurd station
behind the Essex on Sept 16, 1951 when the plane retuning from a mission
crash on the deck of the Essex (killing 6, I believe). Anyway I have
photos that I took on that fateful day. As soon as I can I will scan
them in and send them to you on the web. Some members of the Essex
might be interested in them. I'm sure they were all too busy fighting
the ensuing fire to worry about photos. Anyway I have then and I will
forward them to you as soon as I can.
