Comments: My Father served aboard the USS Hailey DD556 from Dec 1959 to 1962 when it was turned over to Brazil. He worked with the engine group. I am looking for some friends of his. They are (sorry for any miss spelling of names) Jerry Homequest, Roger Hall and Henry Oldengarm. I grew up listening to stories of Dad's days in the Navy and thought it would be nice to find some of his buddies for him. If you have any information please contact me. This would be a great present for my Dad. Thank-you very much.

Roger has written a book, "The Rangefinder, Tarawa to Tokyo", that tells the story of the USS Hailey's exploits during WWII. He has done an awesome job in the writing of this book.

I was a Disbursing Clerk aboard the U.S.S. Hailey (DD-556). I was not a
veteran and ineligible for the American Legion. It is ironic as I spent
thirty-one years in the Naval Reserve program with the last nineteen
years associated with Reserve Naval Construction Battalion 28 (RNMCB
28).
The Hailey was the second U.S. ship to go through the Suez Canal after
the'57 war. We operated in the Red Sea a month. Boy, was it hot! Would
like to hear from Kratz, Dilts, and others.
