Comments: My father served aboard the USS George Clymer from 1947 -1949 according to one of his DD Form 214's. I am in the process of recuperating his military history so that I can honor my mother by capturing and framing our retirements together. Any pictures, stories, or leads would be greatly appreciated.

From what little he told me was that he was a cook. Although I remember seeing a news clipping that his mother had cut out, it was something to do about special ops training on the island of Saipan. Finding info

Scott Strance Email address wrote:
I was searching the WEB for information regarding my fathers NAVY
activities and have not had much luck. I thought you might be able to
point me in the right direction.
He was in the NAVY and in Korea from 09/50 - 09/51 aboard the APA-27 or
George Clymer. I've been able to determine he made the landings at
Inchon in September 1950 then went to the East side along with the
Battleship Iowa and that's about all. I'm looking for history for that
period with that boat.
Can you help?
Update: As it turns out, I was able to determine the Deck Logs were
available for his boat. After a small process to order the records and
a 6 week wait (plus some cash) I received the logs from my dads ship
for the 13 months he was on it. These are detailed deck logs in daily
increments of 4 hour watches. It lists EVERYTHING the ship was doing
and narrows it to within the 4 hour block. It was approx 450 pages
(legal size) of the actual logs.
I then took them to a local printing company and had them sprial bound.
Then came his birthday and what a surprise!
If you need any of the link addresses, I think I still have them around.
Thanks for taking the time to check up.
Thanks.
