Comments: Was RMC while on Firedrake. Retired in 1967 as RMCM. Saw Chief Parker BTC while on freeway outside of Chicago in 1972. Also saw Chief Howard DCC at FRA convention in Des Moines, IA in the 70's. I believe the RM rate has been discontinued. The satellites change everything.

Comments: I found this web site by doing a Google Search for the Firedrake. My dad, Lee Stockinger, was a Chief on the Firedrake from 1954 to 1956.
I believe when he left the ship some of the people he worked with gave him a .22 caliber target rifle. That was his last tour of duty at sea and he remembered it fondly. He retired from the Navy in 1959 and died in 1983.

Our next reunion is set for 9 - 11 September 1999 at the Holiday Inn,
San Diego Bayside.
At our last one we presented a plaque to the ADM Nimitz Museum for the
"Wall of Honor." It recogines the Firedrake for her role in WWII, Korea
and Vietnam.
We look forward to seeing all of our Shipmates in'99.
