Comments: I FOUND TIME TO FIGHT THE NAVY FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS OF MY FIRST ENLISTMENT, UNTIL I FOUNF AN EAISER WAY WAS TO JOIN THE SYSTEM. OWE MUCH OF MY SUBSEQUENT CAREER TO PEOPLE WHO UNDERSTOOD HOW TO GET ME ON THE RIGHT TRACK. SNYDER, BMC/ R.G. OUTLAW, MMC/ GROSS, CS2,/ MAYS, BM2/ HOLT, GM2/ AND THE GUN BOSS, LTJG CARTIER. DISCHARGED 12/53, REENLISTED 2/54 AND SERVED ON TIN CANS FOR 8 MORE YEARS, WENT TO SUBS FOR FOUR MORE AND VIET NAM FOR A YEAR. FIRST TOUR SHORE DUTY IN 67-68 BACK TO NAM FOR FOUR MORE YEARS. RECRUITER AND FINALLY RETIRED IN 1979. I'M 100% SC DAV AND LIVE SO FAR BACK IN THE HILLS OF AR. WE HAVE TO PUT DIAPERS ON THE CHICKENS TO KEEP HOOT OWLS FROM CROSSBREEDING. I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM ANY OF THE ABOVE PERSONNEL.

Are you familiar witha a photo that appeared a bit over a yr ago in US Naval Institute 'Proceedings' of the Korean Memorial covered in snow? It is awesome.

determine them....they may be off by a day or so either way.
Periods of Korean Duty for USS Duncan:
1. Dec 1, 1950 - 18 Jan 1951.
2. Jan 23, 1951 - 06 Feb 1951.
3. Feb 27, 1951- 13 Mar 1951
4. Apr 26, 1951 - 07 May 1951
5. May 16, 1951 - 29 May 1951
6. Jun 14, 1951 - 18 Jul 1951
7. Mar 14, 1952 - 02 Apr 1952
8. Apr 16, 1952 - 27 May 1952
9. Jun 08, 1952 - 22 Jun 1952
10. May 19, 1953 - 26 May 1952 (Duncan hit by Korean Shore batteries on 26
May off Hodo Pando)
11. Jul 26, 1953 - 19 Aug 1953
12. Sep 02, 1953 - 22 Sep 1953
