Comments: Served on the Dixie from April 67 through Oct 70 as a Photographer's Mate. Would really like to catch up with mates from that era, like Jim (Jerry) Dyer. This was truly four of the best years of my life - loved it. The Dixie was a great old girl, which as I understand it continued on for many more years. When I was on her, she was the oldest ship in continuous service in the Navy as I recall.

Comments: i am looking for information about my dad when he was in the navy. i have two pictures of him, one that is a portrait of him in uniform and is dated 1951, and then one that is of him in uniform on board ship. my mother tells me the ship he served on was the uss dixie. i'm told he served over in korea, and i know he either was somewhere in hawaii either serving or on leave where he took alot of photos/slides. this was before my parents met, so she doesn't know anything else. i don't know if i can even find anything or anyone, i am just taking a chance. my dad passed away nov 17, 2003 we miss him terribly and i'm trying to get as much information together as i can to build a scrapbook of his life so my kids and grandkids can know more about him. thank you for your time and in advance for any info anyone might know.
