Comments: My father Howard.W.(Bill)Donovan served on the U.S.S.Cony from 1953-1954 as a FT/2.He retired after 22 years as a Senior Chief Petty Officer on October 1970.He always had good things to say about the Cony.He died on Feb.24,2004.

Comments: VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. Bruce E. Glendinning, 82, of Jupiter and Virginia Beach, died Saturday, June 14, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
After retiring from the Navy in 1963, he worked for Glendinning Cos., Westport, Conn., until 1974.
He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, Class of 1944.
He served in the Pacific theater aboard the USS Anderson. He graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1953 and commanded the USS Cony from 1958 to 1960.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Crissie C. Glendinning; two daughters, Carol G. Geis and husband Philip of Cincinnati, and Gail Glendinning and husband Henry Band of Fremont Calif.; a son, Alan Glendinning and wife Meg Gerstner of Los Altos Hills Calif.; a brother, Ralph Glendinning of Hobe Sound; a sister, Ailene Dyer of Quilcine, Wash.; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday, July 15.
Those who wish may contribute to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Holloman-Brown Funeral Home, Virginia Beach.

I have a couple extra Cony year books from either 1960 0r 1961 I would be interested in selling one of them. To be honest I will have to dig them out of a closet to get the correct dates. Comments: I served aboard Cony as a Radarman and saw more of the world in two years than most sailors see in a career. I don't believe the ship even had mooring lines, just refueling rigs.
