Comments: My Grandpa served on the USS Colahan. His Name was Eddie Erickson. He passed away when I was 6 The little I remember of him was he was in the Navy. My grandma gave me a picture of his ship it had stripes on it. I cant tell the colors though they have faded. Anyways I was hopeing to see if anyone on here may have served or known my granpa see if they can help me with the stripes so I can restore this picture.

Comments: I sent a message earlier looking for information about my daddy who served on the USS Colahan from 1951 to 1955. I stated that he was in Sasebo Japan and that I know one person who served with him, Charles Mills. I however left out my daddys name: Tommie F. Jackson. He was from Kingston, TN. I'm sorry I left out that information earlier. Sincerely, Rhonda McClure

Comments: i just typed my name into a search engine and was very suprised that this page came up. you can imagine the suprise myself at finding a naval vessal with my surname. i live in the UK, where the name is very rare, i know it originates in ireland, but how it became to be the name of a naval vessel is a wonder to me. please if anyone can tell me who it was named after, and why i would much appreciate it. again thank you

I spent "wonderful" time on the Colahan between Oct. 51 and early 1955.
We operated up an down the coast of Korea as part of Task Force 77 and
did some costal bombardment. We went as far south as the Philippines
and Indochina as it was known then. The Navy was an experience I shall
never forget or regret.
