He passed away when I was 6 The little I remember of him was he was in the Navy. My grandma gave me a picture of his ship it had stripes on it. I cant tell the colors though they have faded. I THINK WE RAN A DEPTH CHARGE ATTACK ON A SUB DURING THAT TOUR. MANY GOOD TIMES IN SUBIC BAY, AND MANILA. THE ERBIN, TWINNING, AND SHELDS WERE OUR DIVISION. THE FULL STEAM RACE FROM MIDWAY TO PEARL WAS ALWAYS A BLAST. I WORKED IN THE GALLEY IN MY FIRST FEW MONTHS AND REMEMBER SENDING A SHIPMATE NAMED "SCHERDELLA" ON A MISSION TO THE OTHER THREE SHIPS (WHILE TIED UP TO THE TENDER)FOR SOME OATMEAL SUGAR FOR THE OATMEAL COOKIES. I was a Yeoman 3rd class and worked under Pete Garrison until he was discharged and Hank Green YN3 came aboard to replace Pete. I have been trying to loacate Pete, Rex Allen who worked in the office and Norman Grahn who was our mail room representatie.
