About Charles Finch

Comments: Hi. I am the daughter of one of the naval crew of the Sperry and I know about your relative. My Father wrote a Korean War Diary and mentioned Mr. Finch on that fateful day. I was re-typing my Dad's diary for him to share with his fellow crew members who meet annually for a dinner/commemoration to remember the Korean War Vets of the USS Charles S. Sperry. I've notified my father of this web page and he will probably be contacting you. I know this page is a couple of years old, but I though I'd try it anyway. If you want to contact me, I'd be happy to give you any other information, and even share the diary of my father with you.

I am looking for information about my cousin Charles P. Finch who was
lost overboard the USS Charles Sperry on Oct. 5th 1950 - during a
typhoon. He was serving on watch - only 17 years old - 5 days short of
his 18th birthday and was washed overboard and presumed dead.

They spent only a short time looking for him as they were on the way to
Korea. Is my cousin on the list of Korean war fatalities?

He was the only son of my Aunt and his death affected his extended
family deeply. Every year on Charlies' birthday, my beloved Aunt (RIP)
would go down to the ocean and drop a rose in.

Would you search the records of Korean War fatalities and see if
Charles Patrick Finch is listed.

Thank you.
