Comments: My dad served on the USS Brush when it was hit in Wonsan Harbor. I have written a profile paper on him for an English class. Apparently, a gun mount was hit and the gunners mate lost his leg. I have pictures of the damage to the ship and pictures of the wounded being transported to the USS St. Paul. If anyone remembers my dad and that particular incident, please let me know. His name is Spencer M. Lunt from Honolulu, HI. He is 77 years old now and in pretty good health.

Comments: I am looking to make contact with an old friend aboard ship called Ivor Hunt, who was on the Deck Force with me during our Westpac cruise of 1965/1966. His old e-mail address was with IBM, but since IBM changed the way they listed e-mails I can't find him.

My memory is running short, because of several strokes, but I do have a picture I took and would like to give it to him.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My e-mail address is hfritz@bluebottle.com.

Thanks in advance.

As a young lad of 5-6 years old, I also remember making a run with him from San Francisco to Long Beach (I think) and getting my first taste of sea sickness as we powered out of San Francisco and passed under the Golden Gate into rougher water.

I would appreciate hearing of any anecdotes any of his old shipmates might be willing to share.

Comments: I served aboard the Brush from about December 1951 until September, 1954. I was not aboard when Brush struck a mine. I was told it struck the port side in C division sleeping quarters where I bunked. I was aboard in Wonsan harbor when No. 1 mount was struck. Served as radioman on shore party (Bok-to or Chok-to) to bombard enemy positions. Rate was RM2.

Comments: Ray was my father-in-law, although I never met him. He passed in 1993. We don't have his records yet, but we believe he was injured either in the 1950 mine strike or the 1953 shore battery hit. His 1951 wedding photo shows a "crow", crossed keys, and three ranking stripes. We would love to connect up with someone who remembers him.

Comments: I boarded the USS Brush DD 745 on 8 Sept 1950 as a transit going to the USS Helena CA 75. Was aboard during sinking of Korean junks behind island Mayang-do Island near Sinpo. Took photos which I gave to Brush Association several years ago.I was on the Helena on 10 Sept, and we were nearby when Brush hit the mine, took on some of the wounded for treatment.
