Comments: My step father was on the APA-33 Bay field during the Cuban missile crisis in 1962. Went thru the Panama canal. He was in the USMC before he retired after 30 years.

USS BAYFIELD APA33 1965

Keywords: My father was aboard the USS BAYFIELD APA33 (Navy) in 1965-? @ port in japan. He did 3 tours in vietnam. was stationed in san diego Ca *Naval Exercise Silver lance. and also in hawaii. He was a 2nd Class Bosmans Sea mate. His name is Stanley J. Karpierz was known as "The Boogie Man". He passed away May 10,2007. Looking for anyone who may have known or remembered him. remember Ort, Purcell, and Rodgers. Div. Officer was Lt. Gray I believe.

Made trip to Olympia Wash, Then San Diego to load m Marines to go to Kobe Japan and on to Inchon Landing. Attempted Wonson Landing - tied up in mine fields and did operation Yo-Yo. sailed back and forth till they got us out of mines. Made Evacuations at Chimmnapo for wounded ROK and dependents. evac. at Hungman right about Christmas time. Was transfferred off Bayfield to the Okinangan APA220 for last months of enlistment. It was wild ride, but wouldn't have missed it for the world. We also had dipthera breakout on way back to Japan and had to pull into Pearl Harbor for help, so got to see that beautiful place, Anyone remember me, would love to hear from you and whats going on with you now.

Comments: Robert Sherman "Courm" relieved me of my duties on my discharge. He was from Hopewell, Va.( I think) and I was from Danville, Va. I now live in Anchorage, Alaska after living in MD for about 30 years. I would love to hear from any of my shipmates!

Keywords: James A. Crane; B.M.1C in first class; USS Bayfield during Korean War; traveled to Australia; China; Hawaii; and was on subchaser P.C.1202 traveled Atlantic transport from G/T Bay. Discharged early 50's from P.C.1202 from Caribbean duty. Capt. on P.C.1202 was "A.M.Egland" unsure of spelling.

Bayfield Sep '59 to Sep '60

Comments: Served in the Bayfield for Sep 59 to Sep 60 as Assistant CIC officer. We had a great crew and a great Westpac cruise but no crisie book.

USS Bayfield

Comments: My brother, Calvin Ray Johnson, was on board the Bayfield when he was stricken with a sleeping sickness, this was in the spring of 1952. He was enroute to Japan at the time and the ship was turned back to Hawaii. Several members of the crew were ill and as I recall the ship was in quarantine for a period of time. I would like to hear from anyone who served on the ship at this time. Thank you for any information.

U.S.S Bayfield 1948-1949 Shanghi China (Looking for other shipmates)

Comments: I am looking for information on my father who was on the U.S.S Bayfield 1948 and 1949 for sure according to letters I found he had written, one was from Shanghi China. His name is Edward Allen Doss I think some of his buddies called his Eddy. Would love to hear from anyone who was on the ship in that time frame for some information.

Michael Benjamin Lamphiere

Comments: I'd like to contact anyone who might remember my brother-in-law, Michael Benjamin Lamphiere, who was in the Navy 1951 - 1953 and served aboard the USS Bayfield. He was killed in an auto accident on the way home after being discharged.
