Comments: I submitted once before, but now have a new email address. Still looking for T.O. Vinson who was on the Bausell DD-845 from 1952-54, and Al Wilson, who was at the Fleet Facility, Yokosuka 1951-54. I, and both of them, were graduates of the Fire Control Technicians school in San Diego, not long after it was first started.
I'd also very much like to contact Burke "Al" Allen, who also was on the Bausell at that time. I'm 72 now, so these guys are in that age range also.

Comments: I was assigned to Division 2, but spent a lot of time at General Quarters loading a 40mm on the starboard side. When I was there, the ship went to Songjin and Wongjin banging away at the coastal railroad system. We were shot at a few times, but never hit. We made up for the misery with a few liberties in Hong Kong and Keelung. Oh yes, and a little time patroling the Formosa Straits. It was the first and last time I ever heard of the Pescadores Islands.

This site is a wonderful resource. When I was searching for the

quality site.
Ship Website excerpt
http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/4845/
The USS Bausell (DD-845), was launched Monday, November 19, 1945, at
Bath Maine. The Gearing class destroyer was named in honor of Corporal
Lewis K. Bausell, U.S.M.C., who was awarded the Congressional Medal of
Honor.
Bausell was commissioned of February 7, 1946 at the U.S. Naval Shipyard,
Boston, Massachusetts, and thus began officially her career in the Naval
service. In mid-July, 1946, she passed through the Panama Canal. Her
first full-fledged exercise came in February 1947 and by the time the
Korean Conflict began, Bausell had already completed two Far East
cruises.
Between February 1951 and April 1954 Bausell completed three Far East
cruises, operating almost continuously while there with United Nations
Forces in Korea. She operated as a member of fast carrier task forces,
blockaded the east coast of Korea, patrolled the Formosa Straits,
provided illumination and gunfire support for United Nations Troops,
aided in various sea-air rescue missions, and participated in anti-
submarine warfare exercises. Accordingly, Bausell earned three Battle
Stars for her outstanding performance in the Korean War.
