SON OF USS BATAAN VETERAN |
| MATTHEW SMITH wrote on September 14, 2010 City and State: COLONIE NY Unit: Service or Relationship: OTHER Comments: My father served on the USS Bataan CVL 29 I believe from 1950-53. His name was John Smith, and was also known by the names "Jack" and "Mort." He loved his service on the Bataan. Back in 2000, I found on the Internet an official Navy cap with the USS Bataan CVL 29 on it and gave it to him for Xmas. He almost cried and proudly wore that hat until the day he died in April 2006. I'm wondering if anyone can provide some stories or info on the role the Bataan's played in the Korean War. Thanks very much for your time. Keywords: |
