Comments: I was aboard A.J. Isbell from June 53 to June 56. Served in various capacities as main prop, damage control, CIC and finally Navigator. Designed the 'Hellcat' insignia in 55 when we changed the call sign from "Sapworth' to 'Hellcat'. Will be at Reunion, hope to reestablish contact with shipmates from 'The BEST damn destroyer in the Pacific Fleet!'

Comments: I run a USS Arnold J. Isbell website at http://dwdavis9.tripod.com/dd869/dd869.htm
If anyone would like to contribute items to my website they would be most welcome. I have very little information on her service in Korea so the more we can add, the more we can preserve.
Thanks in advance, Dan Davis

Comments: I was on the A J when it was commissioned in 1945 and then discharged in 1946. For the time, it was the best equiped, best built ship around. Serving on this ship was one of the highlights of my life. My battle station was range-finder operator - I was paid $5.00 more per month for having this position. My rank was FC3.I would like to hear from any of my shipmates from that era. I joined the Navy when I was 17 during WWll. I wonder how many of today's kids would do the same under the same circumstances. I am now a 74 year old with no regrets.

I would appreciate learning anything about the ship. If you are interested in helping me with this project, please contact me at mart0772@student.suu.edu or by telephone at 435-867-5234. Comments: I served durring the Korean war from 1951 to 1954,with task force 77 & 95. Also many side trips to shoot up the coastal rail lines and ground support.
We were directly in front of the St Paul when it was hit in the forward gun turrent by shore batteries,we both were very close to the beach.
We had some deaths durring our tours.
Although, to many people it has become the forgotten war,we will not forget.
