VETERANS OF THE USS AGERHOLM |
| MICHAEL NAGLIERI wrote on July 28, 2002 City and State: Unit: Service or Relationship: FAMILY MEMBER Comments: My father, Frank Naglieri, served on the USS Agerholm during the Korean War sometime in 1949-1951. He has always told me stories of what life was like during the war, and how much he enjoyed the time spent with his shipmates. He was, as he says, a "radio man" on the ship. He just celebrated his 73rd birthday, and is suffering from some early memory loss. He does, however, remember alot of his time on the Agerholm. If there is any one who served with my father, I would love to hear from you. He was (and still is) from Brooklyn, NY, so I'm sure you could not forget his "accent"! Thanks for all you did for our country, and God Bless! Keywords: |

| LEE R. HARDY wrote on May 27, 2001 City and State: TX Unit: 1ST DIVISION Service or Relationship: NAVY VETERAN - KOREA Comments: I was on the USS Hornet CVA 12 from early 55 to 56. I was a BM3 in the 1st Division. I would like to hear from anyone who remembers me. While I served on board during the Korean conflict we were doing some shore bombarding on the coast of Korea. We did this for quite sometime and one day I supposed they got tired of it and set up some mortars and small arms fire and commenced firing back. We took on several hits with the mortars and lots of small arm fire ricocheting all about the port side of the ship. I was a mount captain on a 3 inch 50 mount. The captain put the ship at high speed and got out of there. We were only a couple of hundred yards off the beach. Keywords: USS Agerholm DD 826 from late 1947 through 1953. I served aboard the USS Hornet CVA 12 from 1955 through 1956. The time in between I was in Key West, Fla. Naval Ordinance Unit skippering a 62' Aviation Rescue Boat. |
