IN TRIBUTE TO MY DAD

Comments: My dad was a UDT man during the Korean conflict. My dad didn't talk much about his experiences. He never bragged or expected to be treated any differently than anybody else. He refused, however, to be treated like a second class citizen; especially after his service to the United States of America. At this point in my life, I believe his service was under recognized. When he had a few drinks he talked to his sons about his experience and training. My mother, aunt, and grandmother said he never talked about his experiences. My dad was trained in San Diego, and was assigned to the USS Brush.

Comments: My father was James O'neil. He was a Navy Seal during the Korean War and said his part was Demolition team. He had to even register his hands because they were weapons. He used to have his medals such as his purple heart. He received the purple heart because his platoon ( i think its called) blew up and he lost most of his friends and his knee had a metal sheet in it and he had one testical removed. He told me before he died that he had lied about his age because he was only 17 when he went in. I was wondering if you could please tell me where I might find information on him or photos, since they had taken photos? I am his only child and last living member of his family, I would love to have something to show my children about their grandfather, who was an amazing person.

UDT TRAINED CIVILIANS

Comments: I am trying to find out if any civilian Tech Reps received UDT or similar training so that they could get to and from installations where their electronic services were needed. A Korean vet indicated that my Dad, a techrep, worked with UDT Teams 5 and 3 in the Korean Theater 1950-51. Given that some of the equipment he serviced at that time was stuff associated with a unit in Tactical Air Control functions this rumor is plausible. Also a UDT frogman was a friend of the family and saw us off at the pier when Dad retired from DOD contract work in my childhood. This also hints at some association with frogmen in his technician career too. Another thought was that his association with frogs dates as far back as his Signal Corps service in WWII. In Korea Dad was part of a large group of Philco Techreps servicing all types of equipment for all the military branches over there throughout the Korean conflict that was managed by Mr. Raymond Dick according to Philco publications dating to the time.

Comments: I am looking for any info or pics, or even better, someone who
knew my grandfather, Odell Henderson. He was one of my heros,
still is. I even joined the Navy myself because of him and did all
he
said to do, except go to Ft. Pierce for him. I will make it though.
He
served in South Pacific, did some training at Ft. Pierce, earned a
bronze star (which a family member has now lost), had a chief
named Devereaux, and good friend Joe from Chicago maybe he
served with (trying to get grandma to remember the last name).

He shared a bit with me, and probably more with me than some
others. Some funny...drinking, cussing, train trips, the ladies, and
more (he wanted me to enjoy all my moments in...drink, go out
with
some fellas, get tattoed, and more) and he wanted me prepared in
case, and shared stories of bodies and horror and would tear up
each time. And how after one incident, all had to go to pysch and
many did not deploy again because of how bad that one was.

If you know about my hero, please contact me. My dad was born
in
47 so grandpa was out by then, living in NM. He was from TX
though.
Thanks, Denise, USN, 1988-1992

Comments: I was wondering if anyone on here might have served with my father, Robert Edwin "Bob" Rawls? He passed away in november of 01'. I believe he served from 1948 to 1953. He never spoke much about his time in the service but had a few stories that made us all smile and sometimes choked him up. I miss him very much and would like to speak to anyone that may have known him. He would have been 78 this year and I only wish he could have gotten to know his grand babies better. Thank you...

Keith Rawls

DID ANYONE NO MY FATHER? STAN C.SCHNEIDMILLER?

Comments: My father never really said much about the war, I was proud of him, he even had a photograph of him underwater with a camera taking a picture of a group of men in a pool, taking a picture of him. I was puzzled as to why he still had his scuba gear, and parachute when I was little. He is deceased, and I wonder at times, how much that he had seen, that really messed his head up. At any rate I am proud of all the men who served in that war. My son is due to go to afghanistan soon, he is in the army. Wish him luck, and any prayers would be cool.

Keywords: My father was a UDT, who served on the USS ELECTRONIC, my sister has most of his photographs, he was a photographer for a television station after the war.His Name was Stanley Conrad Schneidmiller.

Comments: If anyone has info on my Dad I would love to hear from you! My dad (Charles R. Titus) died in 1987 due to heart diease. I was 6 years old at the time and my mother has no information for me about my dad during that time in his life. I know that it has been said that he served in the Korean War. I also have a picture of him and some class mates from 1955. I have some records, however it does not shed any light on anything. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

Comments: My sister put an entry in already, but I thought I'd stick in the unit and platoon number. Al Washington is has clear recollection of his mates from his units and would love copies of any memorabilia or to speak with any living vets. He remembers Paul Brewton, Tiz Morrison, Shaggy/Shabby Lane... Please contact us if you have any of the above (since we'd like to see his past) and he can supply you with memories of your family member!
Thanks!
