MOB 10 was across the street from NAS Agana. I worked in the carpenter shop building the prefab components for dependent housing at NAS.

MOB 3 Green huts were on the hill above the air strip we were building. I was on the concrete finishing crew, or more accurately, the concrete crew. We worked two shifts and my memory is that we poured 600 cubic yards per day.

Does anyone recall the bar we built for the club on Guam, and where did it go?

Comments: I am looking for anyone by the name of RICHARD or DICK that served in
the SEABEES in the 1950's at CAMAYAN PT, Philippines. I found a very old
jacket at a thrift store in FRESNO, CA with DICK embroidered on the front
and CAMAYAN PT., Philippines on the back with the sailor hat and tommy
gun insignia SEABEE on the back. This is a burgundy rust colored satin
jacket and am desperate to know if this person is still alive. If so, I'd like
to return the jacket back to the family in exchange for some history on
who he was, what he did for MCB-9, when MCB-9 formed, where he was
from, etc. My grandfather also served in the NAVY and I yearn for any
information I can get on DICK. THANKS KINDLY!!!

Dick or Richard, if you're out there, could this be you??

He always wondered what happened to him. Dad died earlier this month after a long battle with Alzheimers and kidney failure. He was in the navy for 23 years retiring in 64 right before the Vietnam War started. It would be wonderful to hear from anyone who remembers him.

Comments: I was a Navy Journalist in Korea when I found Carpenter Edsall
with Detachment Able in Taegu with CBMU1. He took me to a
site where the Seabees were grading a field later used for an
extension of the Taegu Airport. The Seabees continued working
while bombs fell around them. To make it short, a bomb fell
near where we were standing. Hospital Corpsman 3rd class
Charles Pope was killed and my boot camp buddy ended up
being a quadruple amputee. While he lay there wounded I
recorded an interview and later finished it at the Yokosuka
Naval Hospital. I never talked about this incident to anyone as it
took years to leave my mind. I am wondering who this hospital
corpsman was and how he is doing today. Charles Pope was in
the ambulance which took a direct hit and the hospital
corpsman and myself were standing a few feet away. CARP Edsall
was at our vehicle which was about 30 feet away. ( February
1953)

Please let me know if you have any memories of this incident
and who I may contact for more information. I visited this man
many times in the hospital but we did not hold any conversation.
I was very lucky not to have sustained any injuries.

Comments: I am working with several other Seabee vets to try to fill in the history of divers assigned to the Seabees. I am particularly interested in the period from WW II through 1974. If you are a Seabee who was a diver, or a 'Fleet' diver who was assigend to a Seabee unit I would like to hear from you. Recently a Seabee Divers Association was formed and we are trying to find as many divers who were Seabees, CEC Officers and Fleet divers who were assigned to Seabee units.
