Comments: My father Lawrence Gene Phelan was in the seabees in Korea. I know he was trained as an electrician and liked to take photographs. I was wondering if anyone knew him and could tell me a little about his life in the military. My mom and dad divorced when I was five and it would nice to learn a little more about my dad.

Comments: I feel so sad my dad never talked about his time in the service and we didn't ask. My apologies to him and to all who make our country so incredible. Father's don't always die right away, but the horrific illness of dementia kills the precious stories from being told. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Comments: My Grandfather, BU3 Walter Christiansen Sr. served with MCB9 in the Phillipines during the Korean War. I am interested in hearing from anyone who knew him or can give me any information on those who might have served with him. He was a Builder Third Class, and was from Brooklyn, NY. Please feel free to write or email me if you have any knowledge of his service. He passed away before I was born and I would like to get to know more about his service, as my father can only tell me he was a Seabee and hand me the cruise book. I would also be interested in finsing out what campaign/service medals he was entitled to. Also, his brother served as a Seabee in WWII, PO1 Carl Christiansen. If anyone has information on him that would be swell as well. Thanks! -Private Walter Christiansen, USMC

I think it was 101 degrees f. on the fill and 250 degrees under a D8 when we changed the oil etc. I set up a record system for every piece of heavy equiptment on the site and cut our time and material by about 40 percent. After that I was in charge of the evening shift. I could not believe the difference when I saw the current pix. Cubi point is now my screen saver!! I have many pix of Subic from 1952 @ 1953. Comments: I was a Navy Journalist in Korea when I found Carpenter Edsall with Detachment Able in Taegu with CBMU1. He took me to a site where the Seabees were grading a field later used for an extension of the Taegu Airport. The Seabees continued working while bombs fell around them. To make it short, a bomb fell near where we were standing. Hospital Corpsman 3rd class Charles Pope was killed and my boot camp buddy ended up being a quadruple amputee. While he lay there wounded I recorded an interview and later finished it at the Yokosuka Naval Hospital. I never talked about this incident to anyone as it took years to leave my mind. I am wondering who this hospital corpsman was and how he is doing today. Charles Pope was in the ambulance which took a direct hit and the hospital corpsman and myself were standing a few feet away. CARP Edsall was at our vehicle which was about 30 feet away. ( February 1953)

Please let me know if you have any memories of this incident and who I may contact for more information. I visited this man many times in the hospital but we did not hold any conversation. I was very lucky not to have sustained any injuries.
