Comments: I was looking for information regading Sailors being used as commandos in Korea. My dad mentioned something about this and I'm trying to find out more. Does anyone have any information? It seems odd to use sailors in this fashion. Was it an early Seal type program? Thanks.

Comments: My father was on the USS Collett as a MM3 1948-52. He has the Navy Unit Citation for Inchon as part of the "Sitting Duck Squadron". My question is, I believe the ducks were given the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation as well. Can ANYONE confirm or deny this...my internet search is not coming up with anything "official" like.

Comments: My grandfather, Lewis Garrison, was a member of the US Navy Training Company 130 in San Diego, CA. I have a photo of the company dated May 17, 1948. Named in the photo are HM KIRKLAND, BMC and BD FINCHER, QMC. I know that my grandfather went on to serve in the Korean war. I would like to know more about his time there, and think the best place to start would be to find the ship he was assigned. If anyone can help me, please do so, it will be greatly appreciated.

Comments: I am just researching and trying to find out some information on my Uncle who fought in the Korean War. I do believe he was in the Navy. He ended up missing after his ship landed in the San Francisco harbor. He was on the ship on the return trip back to the states but then never got off the ship when it landed. The FBI did do an investigation which came up unconclusive. If there is anyone out there that can give me any kind of information at all, please help me out. I would appreciate it so much! Thank you. He was my father's brother and we would just love to know the real story behind his disappearance.

Comments: My father served on the USS Klondike, from 1950 to 1952. The USS Klondike was based out of San Diego. I am trying to find out if the USS Klondike was in Korean waters at any time from 1950 to 1952, or if it stayed in San Diego for the entire two years. If it did go to Korea, the Navy wants me to tell them the location, and the dates it was there, on a form they want me to fill out. I have tried to find out this information from the Navy, and from sites on the internet, unsuccessfully. If you know any site I could find this information or if you know this information, that would be very helpful. Barbara Quigan

General Search
I am interested in finding info on naval air operations during the
Korean War and in particular I'd like to delve into the accounts of
those pilots KIA. Is there any place online that I might find or
request such information?
My compliments on the wonderful presentation you and your group of
volunteers have put together on this topic.

I know my grandfather (Edward Joseph Cimburek) was in the Navy. He was
located in the Phillipines during the war. He was with 13 other people
when thier sea-plane crashed. This is what I found out. A sea-plane
usually went on a flight with 14 crew members. On that particular day 2
people called in sick.
One however, decided he could fly. The other one didn't go. The signals
on the plane indicated water below. (That was the only part of land they
could safely come down on.) They were having trouble with their engine.
Instead of landing they crashed into the side of Mt. Baton. Those men
were only 30 days from coming home. I hope this helps. This is all I
know. Thanks for your time and your help.
Sincerely,
Anna Cimburek
