BREMERHAVEN TO NY CHRISTMAS 1952 |
GENE ALLEN wrote on March 2, 2013 City and State: VICTORIA TX Unit: Service or Relationship: FAMILY MEMBER Comments: I sailed on USNS Barrett on or about Christmas day of 1952 from Bremerhaven to New York. My mother, sister, and I were being shipped home because of events in Germany. I recall watching my father standing on the pier until I could no long see him for the haze. I remember a snowball fight between several kids and I when we threw snowballs down on the aft deck where there were many men. In return, we were bombarded by hundreds of snow balls. Ha. Ha. I was wondering if anyone aboard at that time remembers this as I do. We were about two days out of NY when it snowed on the ship. Would like to hear from anyone who was aboard as the crossing was particularly rough the first three days. Keywords: usns barrett |

MSTS SHIP MANIFESTS |
RON TULLY wrote on November 29, 2012 City and State: Unit: Service or Relationship: OTHER Comments: Passenger Lists for MSTS. The little that I know is: Ancestry.com has some lists. Their listing for our family was Seattle and Tacoma, Washington, Passenger & Crew List of Airplane Departures, 1947- 1957. Our family sailed to Japan in 1949, but ancestry.com has us listed as aircraft passengers (not true, so you might search both aircraft and ships passenger lists). Ancestry.com also makes reference to the National Archives. My guess is that they, the National Archives have these passenger lists also. Ancestry.com cost money, National Archives, I think is free. Hope that helps someone in their search Keywords: |

Ronald Paul Knox was a passenger on the General Maurice Rose in the early 1950's for the US Air Force or Marines on his way to England. I found the ship manifest on ancestry.com under militray records. I contacted the military evidently part of his file was destroyed in the fire. I am looking for the port in engalnd in which the ship would dock. It seems I may ahve a brother in England and I would very much like to find him. Any information would be appreciated. Thnak you for any help, Jodi Knox Keywords: Maurice Rose, ship |
