He was given a picture of the ship, but because of a fire in his home, he lost the picture. He would like another of the ship.

Comments: Hi there! My grandad is turning 80 next week and I would love to find anyone that was with him when his regiment went to Hong Kong between 1952-54. He was in the Royal Engineers so he tells me.

I'm not trying to pull any heart strings - he is a very unwell man and will not live to his 81st.

His name is Graham Crocker. He currently lives in the Bristol area.
His wife is Barbara.

If anyone knows anything or can point in my the right direction I would be over the moon.

Thanks &
Best regards

Dean

Comments: I am trying to find passenger list for voyage my mom, sister and I ( Betty J Parker, Kathleen (Kay), and Susan )went on to unite with my father, who was 1st Lt . Robert Parker ( Bob),: ( jet pilot with 26th Fighter Squadron, 6351st
I am not sure , but think we left from San Francisco, though I have seen Seattle also?
My mom wrote a 6 pg journal so if ANYONE else was on that 15 day voyage I will gladly share her story.
I have family trees on Ancestry, have tried to find our ship, finally saw it listed in her journal!! Ship name was mistyped, but it is USS General H.W.Butner, found all the stats on Wikipedia, but not under passenger lists on Ancestry!

This is especially important to me because my sister, Kathleen Marie Parker (Kay), was killed in freak accident while in Okinawa ( flower box fell on her and crushed internal organs.) I finally found the record of her death on a document from American Foreign Service Headed REPORT OF DEATH OF AMERICAN CITIZEN. She died on May 3, 1952, shy of her 4th birthday, at Uchitemari, Okinawa, at Ryukyus Army Hospital.

My Dad's assignment was immediately terminated, as is policy following death), and we flew back to US with Kay's casket. Both parents died ( dad was 63 and died in 1989), retired from AF as squadron Commander at Lockbourn AFB, Columbus ( then became Rickenbacher ) , not sure of spelling), in 1972 as Lt. Col with 29 and a half years! Would have stayed in but President Nixon called via secure line from WHITE HOUSE ( believe Nixon not on the line but Sec. Of AF or Defense! Call was to inform my DAD that Nixon had hand picked him to be test pilot of some jet at that time! He was soooo not happy, gave a few expletives and said Nixon can go F*** himself and hung up, immediately put in retirement papers!!!! He was so angry that Nixon had JUST been in TV with speech saying drawing down Vietnam troops BUT WAS JUST MOVING units to Thailand!!!!! And his 91st Air Refueling Squadron, that he commanded, had been PROMISED they would NOT be deployed again! Furious to squadron and was not going to continue!
Soooo, that was MY DAD! Proud as Hell of him, he was pilot for Bob Hope's 1967 Christmas Vietnam Tour, and he always said that was his BIGGEST thrill! Considered to pilot to be picked for that previous cargo, and my dad had most experience there at that time!

So would love to get info on ship voyage !! Or any feedback from military still alive from his unit!!

Love to all those who traveled abroad to be with military spouses! This was Kotean War era I believe. . .

Keywords: My Dad's call sign or nickname was POGO at one point. Was 1st Lt. Robert B Parker, her fighter pilot, but I'm not sure what plane.
Ship we went on was USS General W H Butner, May 20-June 3, 1952 from possibly San Francisco or Seattle, sailed nonstop in record time to Okinawa.

1952 from Bremerhaven to New York. My mother, sister,
and I were being shipped home because of events in
Germany. I recall watching my father standing on the
pier until I could no long see him for the haze. I
remember a snowball fight between several kids and I
when we threw snowballs down on the aft deck where
there were many men. In return, we were bombarded by
hundreds of snow balls. Ha. Ha. I was wondering if
anyone aboard at that time remembers this as I do. We
were about two days out of NY when it snowed on the
ship. Would like to hear from anyone who was aboard
as the crossing was particularly rough the first
three days.

Comments: Passenger Lists for MSTS. The little that I know is:
Ancestry.com has some lists. Their listing for our
family was Seattle and Tacoma, Washington, Passenger
and Crew List of Airplane Departures, 1947- 1957. Our
family sailed to Japan in 1949, but ancestry.com has
us listed as aircraft passengers (not true, so you
might search both aircraft and ships passenger
lists). Ancestry.com also makes reference to the
National Archives. My guess is that they, the
National Archives have these passenger lists also.
Ancestry.com cost money, National Archives, I think
is free. Hope that helps someone in their search

I am looking for information from that time period in
Germany and on the Munich Germany to New York via USS

from anyone who may have known him or our family.

I don't have all the facts as my Mother passed away

from Germany.

I want to put in writing what I know or can find out

been, and what we did. I never got our history, or
stories about their lives, from my parents and I
deeply regret leaving it for too long. I'd like to

Any information would be appreciated. Thank You

Comments: My dad is looking for information/pictures of the ship that arrived in Seattle during the 3rd week of November before Thanksgiving in 1952. He believes there was a picture in the Seattle Paper with a headline "3803 Korean Vets Return". He misplaced his copy and would like any info anyone may have. Thank you,

Comments: It seems the only ships listed under MSTS are transports. There were oilers also such as the USS Aucilla AO 56 that delivered oil to many ports of the world and supplied the fleet in Korea by transporting oil fromt he Persian Gulf to Japan and the fleet. It was a ship that never stopped. I was proud to be part of her crew. She returned to the fleet in 1951 after years of service to MSTS.

Comments: I found a menu from the Captain's Dinner, December 20, 1953 from the USN S. Gen R.L. Howze. It was in my father's papers. His name was James Leonard Osborne. He served in Korea in 53-54. I believe his rank at that time was CWO3. Was wondering if anyone might have been on the ship at that time and might have known him. He retired in 1956 from Camp LeJuene.

Just as a side note, my husband and I were stationed in Korea in 76-79 and my father came to visit and was honored by the Korean Veterans (a general) with medals and gifts. You would have thought he won the war by himself.

Comments: All my childhood my grandfather listed above was a captain of MSTS troop transport ships. He sailed back and forth from the west coast to ports from Korea to occupied Japan to Thailand. He was stranded in the Suez Canal back in the 1950's. He was at sea most of the time. I'd love any information about him and the ships that he was on. Thank you, Reesa

Comments: I am trying to find any info on a ship my Dad was on during the Korean War. It took him from US to Germany during the Korean War Era and was called Dan Patch, named after a famous race horse. I cannot find anything on this ship, I have even contacted the Dan Patch Historical Society and they have never heard of a ship named after their horse. My Dad is 84 years old and would love to have a picture of it or any info......Thanks
