The fourty footers were used with sweep wire and depressers and a float called the "Pig" I was on the fourty footers # 16 and # 17. I was part of the crew that won the Navy E in our unit. We would load out crafts and work sheds aboard LSD's and then go to the Korean War zone and sweep for mines. We changed ships [LSD's] about once a month or sometime every two months. My first duty station was Adak, Alaska stright from boot camp [ San Diago ] and I was as far south as Borneo and several points in between Keywords: A couple of guys that I have not forgot at least not their last names were Wiess and Karnes, if you look up the word Crazy in Websters Book you will see their picture.
