Comments: I am trying to reconstruct my father's millitary record. He was in WWII but I have little info on his service between 1950-53. He has many photos of Yokihama Japan. He was in quartermaster at one time and went to adjutant general school in 1948. I would like to find anyone who knew him and to try and find out in what capactiy he served. One re-enlistment paper is signed by 3rd Cav , 3 armored Div? but I don't now if this was his assignment. He spent his civilian career in the trucking industry after his millitary discharge.

Keywords: Among my father's things was a card that he crossed dateline on USNS General Simon Buckner Apr 1953. I think he was at that time SFC of MSgt in US army. Not sure of his assignment.

Comments: To anyone who served on the USNS General Simon B. Buckner:

I have an old button, 3" in diameter, that says "USNS Gen. Simon B. Buckner" and "Club Member" on it. It also has a photo of the ship.

My late father was in the MSTS during the 1950s, and probably served on her.

If any of the ship's alums would like this, contact me and I'll mail it to you.

Comments: After leaving VP6 in Nov. 1953, I served in VR3 'til Feb. 1957,left the navy when the VR3 made move New Jersey. Made many flights to many places. Knew a number of members in VR7 and 8. Looking for Flt. mech./crew chief from VR7 or 8 by name of Arthur Treadwell from Okla.in or near Poteau or Spiro. I was also with Treadwell in Corpus Christi, Tx in late 40ies.

Regarding reunions: There is a VR reunion almost yearly in first full weekend in Nov.that includes/starts on a Thursday. About 250 of us met in the Santa Clara, Ca. Marriott in Nov. 2002. The next one will likely be in Myrtle Beach or that side of USA.

There is a retired navy chief in San Jose, Ca. who keeps a MATS ROSTER and spark plugs the reunions. I can share that info with you upon receiving an email or phone call (408) 683-0400

Comments: I am posting n this board To find information on truck markings. Primarily 2.5 ton GMC's. My father was in during the time of the korean war and early into vietnam. He doesn't mention much of his time in the sevice so I have no exact unit info on him. I know that he served in M.A.T.S. and S.A.C. . I purchased a M135 2.5 ton. And would like to do it in Air Force markings for M.A.T.S. as opposed to others because it would be out of the ordinary. Though any A.F. serv. will do from this time. I use my vehicles with my legion and his legion hall in parades and services. If anyone has any pictures of unit markings on any vehicles. Or knows my dad He has the same name as me please contact me. Thank you. Grover Parker III
