Comments: I have written before asking for information about the Koje-do POW riots and I hope I'm not wearing out my welcome to this web-site. My focus is on a group of men sent into the POW camp during the uprising. From what I understand this group was comprised mostly of ex-convicts. (My Dad was not an ex-convict) I'm not sure exactly when they were sent into the (POW) camp. My Mom was sure it was prior to Gen. Dodd being released. She thought this group of men played a role in his (Dodd's) release. However, the info I have read says no units were sent into the prison to assist Dodd. It further said the first group of men sent into the POW Camp were to "relocate" the POW's into their new compound (after Dodd's release). I'm hoping to connect with someone who was at Koje-do during this time. My Dad's name was George Ernest Wells. Company C, 5th RCT, 8th Army. His tour of duty was from 8/5/51 to 8/16/52. I have given a better discription of him in a previous entry. My Mom said that a man Dad served with had a saying, "When I die I'm going to heaven for lunch, If I don't see your smiling faces...I'm going to hell and join the bunch." I hoping this will jog some memories. I want to thank all who have taken the time to responde to my entries. I am still very hopeful that I will make contact with someone who actually knew my Dad. Thank you all! Norma

Comments: Hi, I'm looking for lost relatives and was hoping someone might recognize and put a name to who I'm describing:

White male, approximately 32 years of age died in 1952. He was a veteran and a pilot. He died in an accident. I do not know if he was serving during the accident. He could have been a WW2 vet, and been a pilot in commercial aviation, or he could have been a Korean War soldier and died in a plane crash or even an auto accident.

If you knew him, you would also know that he was Croatian, probably with a Croatian surname, and that he was survived by four daughters born in 1945, 1948, 1949 and 1951 and his wife, born in 1920. He resided in the midwest, probably the Chicago area.

If you have any ideas on how I can put a name to this person or his family, feel free to write, and thanks.

Unfortunately my father's military records in St. Louis, Mo were destroyed in the 1973 fire. We are attempting to obtain records of an incident that occurred while my father was stationed in Korea. The incident occurred between 1952 to 1953, and involved a truck that had just been stocked with amunition, and the truck caught on fire. If anyone knows where this information is filed/kept or has knowledge of this incident, please contact me. Thank you.

Comments: I am now looking for the Army physician or surgeon who cared the POW in the Koje-do POW camp(POW from North Korea or army of North side). I recenlty got the database of the cause of death in the POW camp in Koje-do released by USA government. There was a good record of cause of death(death certificate) written by UN army physician. I would like to listen the health status of the POW camp. The data told me tht the major cause of death in the POW camp is Tuberculosis, diarrhea. Any comments will be helpful for me to analyze the data.
