Comments: Been searching for Bill Riggs for years! He served with my husband at Camp Page, Korea in 1968-1969. They did volunteer work at an orphanage and were good friends. He was a Korean interpretor and went to the Monterrey Language school in California. He drove a Bentley prior to military service. I don't know much about him except he lived in the San Francisco area. After returning to the United States, he wrote to my husband but never had a return address. That was about 40 years ago.

TAPS FOR ANOTHER GOOD MAN

Column_1_Spacer Column_2_Spacer
Phil Steward wrote on 2009-01-10 15:49:20.0

Comments: I just learned yesterday that we have lost another Vet who was helping in the fight to change the Agent Orange Law for all Korea Vets.

Sp.4 Dennis A. Grahn who served in C Company, 2nd Engineer Bn, 2d Infantry Division suffered a fatal heart attack while traveling from his home in Fairfield, California to Oregon for Thanksgiving Dinner.

Dennis was very helpful in our effort by sending photos, statements and a copy of his Hostile Fire Pay Orders listing numerous other men. In Korea he worked on the massive job of installing the new chain link barrier fence, cleared old minfields and daily swept entry points and DP's for Infantry Patrols entering theZone. Dennis leaves his wife, Linda and one daughter that I know of.

Although he will be missed by friends and family, we know he is now in a better place and no longer suffering the effect of Agent Orange Poisoning.

Phil Steward, Captain (former) CO, Echo Company, 2nd Engineer BN, 2nd Infantry Division, Korea - 1968 - 69

Problem is, I don't remember the title or the artist. There is a line in the song that goes something like, "I never really loved her, get off my back."

If anybody remembers the tune and can tell me the title and/or artist I may be able to locate it on the web.

Comments: I was stationed in Korea in the fall of 1968. My compound was called Guje Budae which translates to scroungy compound. It was right next to ASCOM Deopt compound in Bupyeong. The 121st Med Evac Hospital that was mentioned so many times on the TV show M*A*S*H was on the ASCOM Depot compound. I was a 63H20 and I spent most of my time there working in a junk yard that was on the SP50 compound. This compound also housed a signal company and an MP company. We were right across the street from a heli-port and AV unit that flew CH-21's. During my time there we transferred over 300 M-211's to the ROK Army. It would be interesting to hear from anyone who might have some 40 year old memories to share.

Comments: Looking for anyone who served at Camp McNair '63-'64. I only remember a few names Hightower, Balser, Whitehead. We had a Warrant officer who really liked to get drunk on Cream de Mint. Also anyone remember having to go to the medics for frostbite or cold weather injuries. Thanks Roger

Comments: For Anna Vail,

My deepest sympathy with the loss of your brother Bob. I found your post on the Korean War Project page requesting information about your brother. I was a band member with the Victims of Success in Korea from 1968 to 1969. Bob was the lead guitarist /vocalist with the group and he was essentially the show. Not only was Bob a great musician, he was an outstanding entertainer. When we would perform for hundreds of servicemen, they saw a show from Bob, a phenomenal guitarist. Over the years I expected to see Bob on stage with a famous band, thats how good a musician he was. For 40 years I wondered what happened to Bob and was saddened to see your post about his untimely passing. The world did lose an outstanding musician and person. I would like to give you some pictures I have of Bob and the group. I was proud to play with Bob and will never forget him. He gave many of us memories we will cherish the rest of our lives.

Regards,

Stan Feikle, sfeikle@wowway.com Saxophonist for the "Victims of Success"

Comments: Would like to make contact with anyone at my location in 66-67. I have talked with Sherrill Shepherd. He has taken his case for exposure to defoliants to Washington, DC and has a hearing. He has said that it was very favorable as of OCT 18,08.

Comments: I was in Headquarters Battery but lived in Bravo Battery compound (Camp Hunt). I was the battalion S-4 clerk serving with Capt. Edward I Alexander and then Capt. Dallas W Clark. I have a copy of the official Headquarters Battery personnel roster dated May 1961.Anyone who was there and wants a copy of the roster, E-mail me and I will send you a copy. A heck of a tour of duty. I celebrated my eighteenth birthday over there with some great guys.
