Comments: I went to Korea in 1968 and stayed till june of 1969.
my mos was 76d20 when I got there and that lasted 1
day. I reported in and my co told me that he didnt
have a place in his co for an ord parts spec. as of
that moment I was an infantry man. I saluted and
walked the hell out of his office. I knew that as of
that momentmy a-- was out!!! I spent some of the
coldest and hottest days of my life in that dam
foxhole. I was there At J.S.A. the day the Pueblo
crew came back into our side and I was dam proud to
be an American then And I still am today.I remember
that politicians said we couldn't shoot unless we
we're shot at. our co told us we could fly home
sitting in a seat or zipped up in a body bag. it made
perfect sense to me.

AO CASE WON FOR CAMP CASEY

Comments: In Feb of 2012 I won a long battle with the VA over Agent Orange Exposure at Camp Casey, Korea. I was there from the summer of 1967 to the very end of 1969.

I extended my tour to come home at Christmas that
year. All I have won so far is Diabetes, but it is a HUGE win to have them finally admit it.

I have spent the last year working on several other parts of my claim. Some of them are PTSD, Lung Disease and Hypothyroidism. I have information that may help Camp Casey and other Korean Vets that I can email or send to you.

You may also notice that I have another older posting on this website. It has my old phone number. Please just use this email address at this time.

Thanks

Ron Weber

Comments: After the war the GI's of the Indian head Division built roads, delivered
food and supplies to stranded civilians in times of flood, guarded the
ancient invasion route to Seoul from the marauding North, and gave the
people of South Korea the time and impetus to grow from a 3rd world, war
ravaged country, into a economic world power house. Still the menace
persists but the people of South Korea are equal to the challenge, in no
small part to our service. I, and my military colleagues can be proud to
have played an important part in their march to National prominence. If
you are out there, please give me a shout out.

MARK JOHNSON wrote on December 9, 2012

City and State: MOYOCK NC

Unit: 2ND AVN BN

Service or Relationship: ARMY VETERAN

Comments: I arrived at Stanton Field in late Nov 66. The cold and the smell were
a NEW experience for a 17 year old Floridian. I was fresh out of
Huey school at Eustis.

It seemed like a fairly Spartan existence, platoons double bunked in
Quonset huts, boiling on the top bunk, freezing on the bottom bunk,
walking to a different building for latrines and showers, a single foot
locker and wall locker for all belongings, and some Roy Orbison nut
playing his songs on a stereo from 1700 to Taps.

I never saw a Huey for the entire tour, but man oh man, the CH21's,
H34's and Ch37's that flew in made a lot of racket.

I was a switchboard operator for several months and can assure you
that MASH got it wrong. It was almost impossible to get a call
through to the states.

Doing a night patrol on the DMZ with ACTA was the single scariest
thing I've ever done in my life, and that includes 30 months in RVN
including Tet of 68.

If Howard Baker is still out there, give me a shout. I have a
photograph of you tangled up in the switchboard. INTREPID out!
