Comments: Douglas Savage, native of Texas, served 1955-1956 in Korea as a photographer. He flew alot of missions gathering photos. He later was assigned to Ft Huachuca, AZ. from 1956-1957 with alot of gentlemen he served with in Korea. I am looking for anyone that knows him and can remember an injury he sustained that left him in the base hospital for 36 days. His records were involved in the St. Louis fire and he needs to get support from old friends. The one name that he does remember is Mr. Vernon Flinkfelt from I believe Pennsylvania. If anyone can assist me or would like to make contact with him feel free to email me, he is a teacher in Texas.
Keywords: Doug Savage, I believe was assigned to the 8th battalion while in Korea from 1955-1956. Det Nr 1 (9470) Special Troops as a photographer is what is on his seperation paper work.

Comments: WhenI first went to Japan I was assigned to the 15th TAC sqdn. They had RF84s then.I was in acft.maint.[Every man a Tiger].They moved to Okinawa.I was transfered to the 6021 Tac recon [Green Dragons].They had a couple of F-100, but mostly RF86s.they also had T_33s which had collectors on the wing tips. It was sort of secret operation which Recon is,anyway. I have not been able to find anyone who was in the 6021.or for that matter anyone who has heard of it. I am hoping through this letter that I will find somewon. The 15th TAC was always a great outfit. I really enjoyed Yokota/the great buddies i had in the 6021st. Good luck to everybody. Jack

He was in Korea, but I don't know for how long. I do know he contracted malaria and was very sick. It is possible his records were destryed in the 1973 fire so I'd love to hear from someone who knew him... Thanks and God bless all our soldiers and veterans!!!! jkamb5@consolidated.net

Comments: Hello,
I am looking for anyone who has information on Frederick Charles Johnson (Freddie)...I am his daughter in law...He died in 1964, when my husband was only 4, and I would love to find someone who knew him, mike never got to hear the war stories from his dad.
Freddie served in Panmunjom from 1958-1960. I have several pictures of him in front of a sign that reads Hell on Hooks. Also some pictures in Barracks and with Korean children.
I believe he was a line man back then. When he returned home, he continued doing the line work and was killed in the line of work, in Maryland.
I was also curious to know if he could receive a replacement burial flag. Some years ago during a move, his family lost the original one, and he is still very upset about that.
Thank You, Christine Johnson

Comments: My cousin Donny Spoffard, formerly of Medford Mass., now of Maine, spent three years in the army as a K-9 handler. He did a tour in Korea and came home safe and sound. Some of his stories from 1957 seemed far fetched and exagerated. Now I know they were toned down and carefully edited for my 7 year old ears. How do you tell these boys Thanks for doing what you did as you were no doubt told then as we are today that it is for the good of the USA, and for Democracy throughout the world....Yadda, Yadda. We know now it was not. Same as Vietnam, same as Iraq.

Comments: Hal: Sgt. Caukins' article in the Leatherneck Magazine 8/03 set this old boy on an interesting search. Then a visit with Hal Barker set me to reading the notes on the Korean War Project. There John Hensons' note helped "jar my memory lose."
I served on the DMZ, at Cherry Point, in November, 1954. If I remember right it was above Libby bridge, at Cherry Point Outpost. We had two or three AmTrac's in support. (My memory is foggy, but beginning to lift I hope.)
Otherwise the rest of the time was at a couple of other locations on the Imjim River, between Freedom and Libby bridges. Between 4/54 until 9/54, then our unit moved to HQ locations, until leaving Korea in 3/55.
If anyone can tell me more about this situation it would be appreciated. Keep the stories coming.
