LOOKING FOR MY BIRTH FATHER - PERRY

JIN-JOO LEE PERRY wrote on October 22, 2011

Service or Relationship: AIR FORCE VETERAN

Comments: I was born in Korea, in 1959. My father's last name is
Perry. My mother's name is Jung-Ja Lee. They met on
base, where she was a cashier, and he was an Army MP. I
was adopted in 1966 and raised in California by the Fisher
family.
While stationed at Kwang-Ju, I found my birth mother in
Dobongu(sp?), northwest of Seoul, across the river. My
mother could not remember his first name, nor the name of
the base, near the DMZ. I have a picture of him...and his
two sons...

He was sent back to the hospital in San Francisco and my mother and I were there when he returned. He was in an out of the hospital for a year. Comments: My father, then Major Robert W. Tracy, served as military advisor to General Kim. I would like to know more about his service. He never would talk much about his military career, he served in WWII, was part of Anzio offensive, served as signal officer of Red Devil commando unit, was sent to Korea as military advisor. Was really good at finding needed supplies and drove his jeep into a honey wagon (details from a humorous cartoon tribute by his unit upon his return home). Anyone who remembers him, or who has lists or information regarding his time there, please contact me. Thanks much,

Unit: 101ST AIRBORNE DIVISION DURING PEACE TIME

Service or Relationship: FAMILY MEMBER

Comments: My father recently passed away, rather suddenly.
He would have been 68 in June. He served in the
101st Airborne when he was just 16? or maybe 18--
1959 or 1960--61? His name was Donald Griffeth--
and he may have had a nickname "Griff." If
anyone remembers him, or served at that time,
could you contact me? I'm trying to get
information about his service. He didn't tell his
family too much--just that he jumped from
airplanes! He served during peace time I'm told.
I've read about the 82nd who was to be ready in
case of a ground assault by Russia--I believe my
father was just "in training" possibly in that
division? I appreciate any information
anyone may have. Thanks!
