Comments: Received boot camp training at Marine Corps. Recruit Depot in San Diego Ca. and graduated on Oct. 23, 1948. Drill Instructors were T/sgt R. J. Bezette and S/sgt N. G. Mills. Have a photo of our Plstoon #81. Served from 1948 to 1952.

Trying to locate picture of football players on Parris Island team about 1950

Comments: My former husband was Julius B. McCrary and was known as "Buster" by his family but most of his marine buddies called him "Mac" or "JB". I am trying to find a copy of the bulletin or newspaper that showed a picture of the football players back in either 1949 or 1950. He was in the center of the picture and if I remember correctly, he was holding the ball. I think he was a quarterback. He has six living children that would be so tickled to have a copy of that picture. He died in 1971. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Ray Sizemore

Comments: Ray Sizemore was my uncle and a Marine Veteran. He served in the Korean War, but I am not sure in what capacity. I do know that he was also a DI and was stationed in Hawaii for some time. He is big part of the reason that I joined the Navy. I wanted to serve my country, as well.

I have another uncle named Roy D. Collier who was KIA in Korea by hostiles. He served in the Army. He was and is still greatly missed.

Marine Korea Vets To USMC Boot Camp?

Comments: Comments: I have known of Marines who were USMCR and claimed that they, having never been through Boot camp, were assigned to recruit training after having completed a tour in Korea.

I would like to verify that this actually occurred.
