Comments: My name is David Ellis, my father and I are researching for a book on a navy pilot who we are both indirectly related to. He flew during WW2 and survived, only to be killed during a R5D crash from Kwajalein. I am looking into that crash, and am looking for anyone who might have known the pilot or my research subject. Anyone who had anything to do with the VR-21 would be of great help. I have nothing but respect for all those who served their country and wish to document all that I can. If anyone could provide any type of information, please contact me.

Would especially like to hear from shipmates who served 1951-1953 era from Comm.Center inside Ft.Amador. Shipmates from outside Ft.Amador,(Farfan etc)it would be interesting to find out what happened from 1954 until things were turned over to Panama.I believe Ft. Amador was the first base to be released to Panamanian Govt.

I have seen pictures of this ship with this hull # on patrol in the Gulf of Mexico. Bob Houseman also served on this vessel. There is a PCEC 896 listed. What is a PCEC anyway? Hope someone can/will shed some light on this. Young served on U.S.S. McNair in Korea as Ensign. Graduated Annapolis 1954. There are 3 sons and a daughter who would love to learn more about thier DAD Thanks-- Derrick Y.

He was an amateur boxer while on board ship. He boxed against Alvin Maddox. We would like to here from any member of the crew or officers. Curtis also served on the PCEC882 that established a naval record for a "rollover" during stormy seas.
