Comments: Please contact me if you are able to find these yearbooks or any photos of my dad. He was unable to afford his yearbooks back in the 50's since he had a wife and me on the way. God Bless you all, Lorraine Popovich Romero 2249 East 14th Street Brooklyn NY 11229-4312

Keywords: My dad Andrew R. Popovich served in the U.S. Army in Fort Gordon GA and was released in 1954. I need to know if I can get a 1953 or 1954 Yearbook. My dad was an instructor, and God Bless him to this day he still is at age 78.

Comments: In order to commemorate and honor my fathers time served in the military, I am trying to understand all I can about his purpose/mission in the 349th infantry, 2nd Bn. His DD-214 says he received a "Army of occupation medal (Germany). What was their purpose their? Where in Germany did they occupy? Who did he answer to? Was it a hostile mission. What did the 349th infantry crest, patch, or insignia look like? How can I find out more about "1st Lt. Nelos Breland?" The date my father was inducted into active service, 08/04/1953 was eight days after the fighting stopped in Korea. Please e-mail me if you have any information that I can use to commemorate the 349th between 08/04/1953 - 06/10/1955

Keywords: Place and date of seperation:06/10/1955 Fort Sheridan, Illinois. PFC Robert Quinn Rogers. 349th infantry,2nd Bn, Germany. Inducted 08/04/1953.1st Lt. Nelos Breland is who signed my fathers Certificate of discharge/DD-214.

Comments: My dad rode the bus on May 12,1953 to report for duty, and when the officer in charge asked his middle initial, my dad said he didn't have a middle name. The officer said well what name would you like to have, b/c we can't leave it blank. The only name that came to mind off the top of his head was Bernard b/c he had just seen him. The officer wrote it down and Daddy has used that as his legal middle name ever since. He says he hasn't seen you to tell you about it.

Comments: I am sorry for the mis-information that I provided regarding my own father. I wrote requesting any information on him prior to or after 1954. The corrected information that I have on him is that his name is A.J. Guillory he was known as Frenchy. Basic training was in Fort Bragg probably around 1952 I belive it was jump school. He supposedly was in Eta Jima in 1954 with the 82nd Airborne, he also apparently worked in medical records during that time. We requested his records from the military and they informed us that all records from 1947 - 1956 were distroyed in a fire. Now what confuses me is that I do have a picture and on the back he wrote my class of 1954 in Eta Jima Japan. Maybe most of this is correct. (I really hope) If anyone has any information I would really appreciate hearing from you. Thank you

Family members recently sent me pictures of Albert's wife and Daughter, that I never knew existed..The only info I have is their names. Toyoko was the wife and daughter was Junko. From the pictures they appear to be from the middle/late 1950's but could be even a little later. The little girl is dressed in traditional oriental dress/with headpiece. The pictures were emailed to me and are of poor quality. Albert was b. 17Dec1934 Houston, Texas and d. 1998 Texas I wish I had more to go. I have used every free search resource available and have found nothing.

I was stationed at EJSC when Korean deal started in June, 1950. EJSC was part of JLC. They came to schools such as: Automotive Maintenance, Cooks & Bakers, Electrical Lineman, Signal Corps, Motion Picture Projection, Corps of Engineers, etc. I was in charge of the Training Aids Section where indigenous draftsmen, artists, sign painters, carpenters, metalsmiths, etc. designed and produced the various training aids for these school classrooms. Soon after Korean War began, Japanese recruits replaced American students and became part of the JNPR. Comments: I am looking for a man named JERRY, last name possibly Christopher. He was in the ARMY, a SSG, stationed in OKINAWA 1954-1955. He may be short, about 5' 7." He is missing the tip of his pinkie finger on his right hand. He may have been a cook, or connected to the Ordnance School. At some point he may have gone to the Phillippines. His girlfriend's name was Toyoko Asato. She worked as a maid at Camp McTureous. She was pregnant when Jerry left Okinawa and their daughter was born in February, 1956. Her name is Junko Fukuhara. Jerry wrote Toyoko and sent money. His last letter was sent from Chicago in 1958. Unfortunately, that same year, Toyoko died. Fukuhara-san was taken to live with her grandmother. No one ever notified Jerry that Toyoko had died. In her mother's effects there are papers with the names Sgt. John D. Faver, Jr., nickname "Dee" from San Antonio, Texas; and Sgt. John H. Tietney or Tiefney from New Hampshire. They may have been friends of Jerry's. Fukuhara-san is looking for her father. She does not want anything from him, just to know about him. I am helping her search as she does not speak or write English. I have made a web site with his picture and would ask that anyone who was in Okinawa when he was there please look and see if they recognize him. The web address is: http://hometown.aol.com/gasmb/index.html

He served in the Army from july 1948--Oct 1951, and was held for one more additional year for the convence of the Govt. as is stated on his DD-214. He never left the states and does not seem to have been in any particular unit. There is no mention of any on his form. The question that we are asking is what he did in the service? On his DD--214 line 28 which is "most significant duty assignment" it reads as follows Pnts Sec MHD ASU 3441. Does anybody know what that means and what he did in the service? I hope that somebody can help and thanks in advanc to one and all who can help. X-Vet from Vietnam.

Y. to participate in winter maneuvers as the aggressor force against the 82nd Airborne, another part went to Iceland as the Infantry portion of the Iceland Defense Force. The unit mainly trained new soldiers from the northeast and sent them to Korea.

After a short period on active duty, members of the TNG Unit were sent to Korea individually. Many who returned from Korea were assigned to the 278th to help train newly inducted soldiers. I did not serve in Korea but stayed with the 278th at Ft. Drum.
