Comments: I am trying to locate any personel that may have been station in Korea with my father (SFC Wesley R. Smith). He was regular army, I'm not sure of what area he was in. He served in WW2, Korea and Viet Nam. Retired from the Army in 1967 in Fort Riley, Kansas. His home was in Georgia. I believe that he worked in the Dental Clinic or Dental area/medical area while in Korea. Any information would greatly be appreciated.

Comments: My father passed away on November 18, 2003. While reviewing some of his military records that he had saved I came across orders that read: Rank, Name, Service Number is relieved from assignment 19th Inf. Div. 5th Army, Fort Dix, N.J. Assigned 1st Commando/Raider Unit 24th Inf. Div. South Korea APO 977 San Francisco, Calif. Proj: FEA Destination classified APO 977 San Francisco, Calif. The order then goes on to instruct my father to report NLT 0800 hrs 9 June 1950 to the Commander of the 1st Com/Rad Unit at pier 5 in the San Francisco Harbor. Other general instructions follow concerning travel and the issuance of full combat gear aboard his vessel. Is there anyone out there that knows about this unit, the vessel they traveled on or anything concerning my father during the war? Thank you all for your service to our country.

John Manguso, director of the Fort Sam Houston Museum, is looking for
indidividuals and units that served at Fort Sam during the Korean War.
Is there any way you could put a little note of some sort at your site
letting everyone know he's looking?

All other information has been lost. Specifically looking for buddies:

He is very interested in communicating with anyone listed,

Thank you for you help in this effort.
