Comments: I am trying to locate Robert "Poncho" Garcia. He was in Germany in 1954 attached to the 7th Army possibly a signal battalion. He was a seargent at the time and probably a career man. He hung out at the "Green Shack" with Norman Kummer from the 34th signal. Robert also knew where to find the mess hall. He may have been from Puerto Rico or Texas. ANY information would be appreciated. Thank You.

Comments: I was stationed at Rhineland from March 1953 to July 1956. Originally with the 291st Engineer Co. Heavy Construction, in ordnance maintenance. Company renumbered in 1955 as the 175th ECHC as 291st was retired. Unit was attached to 39th Engr. Group commanded by Col. Nolting at that time.
Anyone stationed at Ettligen will clearly remember the Last Chance; Jukebox or Hentzel's. Other units on post were 77th Engineers, a dump truck company (can't recall the number) HQ company and several Labor Service units.
Current unit numbers do not ring a bell and would like to be brought up to date. Also, looking for contacts from these units.
Email me at: bockoduo@hotmail.com
Thanks

Comments: Arrived in Korea June 1951 at the Iron Triangle with Co."B"2nd Inf. Regt. assigned to 57 Recoiless rifle squad. Sgt. was kid named Sorrel and the gunner was a young kid named Ricard. Baysinger was the section leader of the 57's. Co."B" was com- manded by Capt. Arthur Busbey. I believe that we had him untilSeptember 0f 1951. Our new C.O. was Captain Bray. Co."B" moved around quite a lot and we were often used to back up the R.O.K. troops. With all we done in Korea for the time I was with "B" Company just a few things really stand out. I guess uou might say memory loss or just the desire to forget most of the experiences. I did get a pretty good report of some of my experiences in a paper back by T.R.Fehrenbach "THIS KIND OF WAR." It wasn't until many years later that someone gave me the paper back to read. I was shocked when I read the article in the book by our own Captain Busbey on pages 566- 574. I guess if you are an officer you have access to all the morning re- ports written by the platoon leaders. Around Jan. 6,1952 we moved up on the Punch Bowl. Many events happened up on the Punch Bowl in the 49 days that we occuppied those positions. The most significant would be the huge cannon that they moved up that mountain for direct fire on the gook positions. It made a tremendous noise and it shook the moun- tains, but it was a great help to our men sitting in those foxholes keeping the gooks pretty busy re-building their positions. I was assigned as the section leader of the 60mm mortar section on the Punch Bowl. I was always in the 57's and I really didn't want to leave the guys. But we all were together anyway up on the Punch Bowl so why not. We moved off the Punch Bowl around Feb. 26,1952. From that day on I was waiting for my rotation orders. March 21,1952 my orders came and I rode out of "B" Co. on my way home. We took the same route home as we did when we arrived, except, we were going home.Finished my tour at Fort Meade Maryland , discharged Oct.21,1952.

Comments: I am seeking any information about my father who served with the 101st ABN in Korea from summer of 1952 until November of 1953. His name was Joseph (Joe) Locke from New Burlington, Ohio. He served as a gunner on either a 30cal or 50 cal machine gun. He underwent basic training at Camp Breckinridge, KY after being drafted into the Army in February of 1952. He left for Korea from Ft. Lewis Washington in approx July/August of 1952, and was discharged from the Army out of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO in November of 1953. I am looking for ANY information regarding him, his units, etc. as his records were destroyed in the NPRC fire of 1973 - he passed away from ALS in May of 1994, so there's not much for me to go on. Will sincerely appreciate any and all help! Thanks!
