Comments: My father served in Okinawa and then Korea in 1953 with the US Army. He cannot recall the unit he was in but thought it was called the Ryuken Unit (?). He was in communications. He was in infantry too (packed the radio and then ran phone lines once he was in Korea). ANY INFO you can provide would be great as he is in failing health and I have move back home to help him. Thanks you ahead of time!

I attributed it to firearms traning in the Army and no hearing protection as well as the noise we were exposed to while wrking on the tank engines. I have filed a request for compensation with the Va. but need to provide more information. If you served at that time please contact me.

Comments: My dad was stationed in Germany in 1952 and when the Korean War broke out, he volunteered because "a lot of the other guys had young families at home and I didn't". He said he was in the Infantry and the Artillery. He was wounded when a mine exploded and he had shrapnel that worked its way out of his leg when I was a kid in the 1970's. The officer that signed his discharge card was Major William R. Condos. He never talked about his experiences except a few times and I never knew his unit. His records were destroyed in the St. Louis fire. Any help would be appreciated.

Rod Lacey wrote on 2007-10-08 22:47:36.0

Comments: I'm searching for information about my father's military career from 1950 to 1954. His name was Waymon Lacey. He was from Pavo, GA. He joined the Army in 1950. He was assigned to Tank Company, 172nd Infantry Regiment, 43rd Infantry Division. He trained at Camp Pickett, VA then served in Munich, Germany from 1952 to 1953. He went from the rank of Private to Staff Sergeant during that time. He talked about being a tank platoon sergeant, patrolling the German border, and having a lot of good times in Germany. After his tour in Germany, he served in the 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Lewis, Washington until 1954 or 1955. He talked about being on M4 Sherman tanks and later switching over to a newer tank, M47 or M48, I'm not sure which. I only have 4 or 5 pictures of my father while he was in the Army. He died in 1980. All the pictures and records he had have been lost since then. I would appreciate any information anyone can provide on my father's Army service and/or the units he served in. Thanks in advance, Rod Lacey rodlacey@aol.com

Comments: My grandfather died in 1992 and my fater can not recall where he would have received his basic training. He was from Oakwood, Va. I would just like to find someone that served with my grandfather in Korea during 1950-1953. His name was Virgil Owens. All his military possession were lost in a house fire shortly after his discharge from the military. So I thought if I could find someone who knew him or where he might have been stationed I could go from there in my search.

From: "Jackie, Jessica, Jonathan" jdavis@stic.net

John Manguso, director of the Fort Sam Houston Museum, is looking for
indidividuals and units that served at Fort Sam during the Korean War.

Is there any way you could put a little note of some sort at your site
letting everyone know he's looking?

If you are willing to do this, please contact me at my home e-mail
address, above, or at my office, the US Army Medical Dept Museum, at
ameddmus@phoenix.net.

I'm looking for information on behalf of my father, Thomas McCluskey,
New York, who was stationed in the 1st Division in Germany (Furth,
Nuremberg and Schweinfurt) between 1950-1952 during the Korean War.

All other information has been lost. Specifically looking for buddies:

Robert Coriveau (New Hampshire)
Millard Phillips (Petersburg)
Randolph Wise (Connecticut)
Chris Davis (West Virginia)
Stuart Blum (Baltimore)
Oscar Lopes (Arizona)

He is very interested in communicating with anyone listed,
or others who may have served with him. Any information on
service dates and location would also be appreciated.

Thank you for you help in this effort.
