Comments: My records, separation papers were lost in the St Louis fire & now I am trying to recreate the information needed to obtain a DD214. I served on active duty from 12 November 1952-15 October 1954 and was based in Korea for some of that time. I have some memory problems, am now 77 years old. I was in Quartermaster but I cannot remember Company, Battalion, Regiment that I was assigned to or the place of separation/discharge City, State, Military Installation. If you remember JAMES(JIMMY) MARQUEZ, JR from NYC please write to me. I live in Georgia now & would like to reconnect with old friends.

Comments: My father served in Korea, he was in the infantry from 53 - 54. He joined the Army in nov 1952 from Detroit Michigan, and was discharged from Fort Sheridan, Ill in September 1954. I recently retired from the Marine Corps after 25 years of servive as an Infantryman (grunt), and am in the process of building him a memorial Shadow box for him. I have his DD214 and various other documents that tell an awesome story but I am still missing certain pieces of this this great puzzle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know where he went to basic training or any of his specific information for that matter. I only know what he told me and what i have documentation to support! I have tried to do extensive research into his units and still have a lot of unanswered questions. I know by some of the documention that he was with the certain units ie. 1 September 1954 I have a letter of appreciation signed by Lt. Gerad T. Frey, 1st Lt Inf, Commanding, G Coompany, 27th infantry Regiment (THE WOLFHOUNDS) APO 25. I also have a bronze star citation with Letter "V" device from 7 September 1953 that was awarded to him as a PFC, HEADQUARTERS 25TH INFANTRY DIVISION, APO 86, signed by BY COMMAND OF MAJOR GENERAL GINDER: OFFICAL: J D ALGER, Col CS, Chief of Staff, JOSEPH S. COULTER, Lt Colonel, AGC, Adjutant General. I have been working on this project for many years now and recently discovered this site as an possible sorce of information! Again any help would be greatly apprecated. Semper Fi!

Comments: Hello, Does anyone have any information on the 8068th Quartermaster Corps unit assigned to the island of Okinawa during the Korean War ? My father was assigned there from about 1951/52 to 1953. He never speaks of what his unit did. I only learned the name of his Unit recently. he is still alive and is nearly 77 years old. He is from Long Island, New York and has lived there all his life apart from his time in the Korean Conflict. He mentioned once a few years ago a fellow army acquaintance from California. He mentioned working in supply and that his unit was due to ship to Korea in 1953 but that right before his unit was due to ship out the end of the war happened. He has some old pictures from the base on Okinawa. he saved the old photos .I have always looked at them briefly and then put them away. If anyone had some family members at the 8068th and if they themselves were with that unit please give me a Holler ! Thanks to all and have a Good Day !

Need to Construct my Dad's DD214...Help! |

Julie Resch wrote on 2008-06-25 16:24:40.0
Comments: I need help. My Dad served in Food Service as a Cook. His last name was either Godinez or Tenorio in the ARmy. He is mexican so they usually have two last names. Went in thru chicago Illinois. Stayed in about 3-4 years. Took instruction in Pole Linement and a few others from what I hear. My father is a short man and I have a picture of him standing between two guys holding up their arms at shoulder length to show my dad was only to their shoulders if that. I think its a basic training picture cuz I dont see any patches. My father has Alzheimers Disease so I cant get enough info from him. All he does is repeats what I say. He once said that a pic of him in Korea was Newanie or something like that. Im not sure of spelling or pronunciation. If you would like to see some pics just in case, let me know. I could email them to you to spark memories. My email is butterflyznbeez@aol.com Hope someone could help me. He used his VA Certificate to buy his home back in 1962 November or December. So Someone has got to have info out there but I dont know how to get ahold of the right person to verify that he used it to purchase his home. I tried ordering his DD214 but apparently they cant find it. They mention a fire in 1973. PLEASE HELP!!!
Julie

Looking For Trudie's Son |

Linda McCart wrote on 2008-05-24 18:52:41.0
Comments: Looking for my half brother, born to Trudy/Trudie, last name unknown, and Clarence Elwood "Woody" Conrad around 1947, 1948, 1949? Woody was my father & was stationed in Austria during the Korean war. I have pictures of his girlfriend, Trudy, but no last name. She seems to be a large boned woman with brown hair, very pretty. After returning to the USA and marrying my mother, he received a letter and a picture of a baby boy that she claimed was his son. I believe this is true and would like to contact him. My father had black hair and was average build, about 5'11" tall. He was originally from Kentucky but resided in Ohio. Please contact me if you have any information about my brother. I know it's a long shot but I want to try.
