Comments: I am looking for any information regarding the 19 sets of brothers from Etowah, TN. My father was one of those sets of brothers. His name is Charles J. Whitener. He is in his last stages of dementia and I just ran across a few photos my mother had put away. And I would like to learn as much as possible or see if anyone has photos so I can put a notebook together.

Comments: I would like to locate/touch base with anyone who served in the Army during 1950-1952 with my dad. His name was Joseph Glen Hill. He was from Patrick County, VA. He did his basic training in Fort Benning, GA, and was stationed in Germany. He was part of the 518th Eng C company. I have a few of the souvenirs he brought home from Germany, including an Agfa Jsolette V camera and a ceramic beer stein. I would love to know where in Germany he purchased them, as well as any stories his Army buddies would like to share. Dad passed away in 1969 just a few weeks before I turned three. I'm trying to find out as much information about his life before he and my mom were married, which includes his time in the Army.

Comments: Greetings: It sure is nice to read all the e-mails from veterans and family members
who were stationed at Ashiya AFB during the Korean War. Our family was stationed
there between 1954 and 1957. I was 12yrs.old at the time and my father was a pilot,
flying C-119's. I'm doing research to find out what squadron he was in. I assume it
was either the 483Troop Carrier group or the 817.He was a lieutenant at the time
and nicknamed his plane after my brother and sister, Dennis-N-Denise,with cartoon
characters depicting their names. My fathers name was Lt. Mitchell Stefanski. We
lost him in an air collision while he was stationed at Manila AFB in 1965. I'm
trying to replicate his plane to honor his memory. I thought it would be great to
pass down to his grandchildren and great grandchildren after I'm gone. If there is
anyone out there who would know if there were any special markings for either of
the two squadrons I would like to know. I'm trying to replicate the model as close
to the original as possible. Unfortunately, the only picture I have of dad's plane
shows my brother and sisters insignia. God bless any and all who have served or are
now serving our country in the armed services.

George E. Hulett, US Army from Arkansas served 1943-1946 and graduated OCS 1948-1953,
engaged in military actions at Slapton Sands, Normandy, Belgium and Germany until the end of the war. Returned in 1949 Germany to a Supply Depot as 2nd. Lte..my mother, sister and I joined him there and we lived there 2-3 years.
Dad had a relationship that resulted in the birth of possible twin boys, whose mother wrote to my grandfather Denver Hulett at Melbourne, Arkansas after his 1946 discharge. My father contacted the family in 1983-1984 and was advised to not contact the boys, their mother had married and the stepfather had adopted the boys. How can I obtain information about these brothers? I promised my dad I would locate them and i have been searching since 1991. Dad died in 1988.
Please contact me with any information. Dad looked like the actor Kirk Douglas!

GEORGE WALTER MIKLOCZAK

JULIE SIMMONS wrote on December 31, 2014

City and State: FLINT MI

Unit: UNKNOWN

Service or Relationship: FAMILY MEMBER

Comments: My father, George Walter Mikloczak, Sergeant First Class, Regular Army, passed
away on July 13, 1989. My stepmother gave me his briefcase with a lot of his
personal papers and pictures from the Army.

My parents divorced in 1966 and it wasn't until the last four years of his life
that I had a relationship with him (and I treasure those days). I have a few
photos from his Army days but unfortunately no names or dates (or very sketchy).

He was honorably discharged in 1954 and in 1957; Bronze Star Medal in 1954 for
his Meritorious Achievement in Ground Operations. He served in the Korean War
from February 1953 to April 1954 and was stationed in Ft. Hood, TX.

I was born in 1963. It appears he first enlisted in 1948 and his Army career
ended in 1967. I have not recently studied all his papers or put them in order.
He was a radio operator and his last 'job' listed is a Radar Mechanic.

He served in Okinawa as well and on the front of his personal folder is listed
1st Infantry Division 10 Jul 48, 30th AD Brigade are the signatures of (as best I
can read) of 1. Mitsukee Higa; 2. Sadake Lohama; 3. SSG Elex L. Saiz; 4.Sgt. John
Latva, Marine Corp; 5. Sgt. Robert W. Keller, USMC; 6. Sgt John Cooh, USAF; five
names written in Korean (I believe) and PLT SGT SFCC Larence Kline.

He was also stationed in Panama (my sisters were born there - one in 1953 and
another in 1961). My brother and I were born in El Paso (1959 and 1963). I have
an (approx.) 8 x 7 photo of a Dinning in Ceremony. OSon A.F. Base Korea. First to
carry the National Colors, Feb 27 1965 (my dad is carrying the American flag). I
cannot find his Unit #. The papers I have of his span his career.

I know that a shell exploded near his position and he was hit by shrapnel in his chest area. He did receive the Purple Heart Award, among others. Dad enjoyed jazz music, and sang for local groups in the Syracuse and Buffalo areas, where he went by the nickname Wiggie. When I was a kid, he didn't talk much about the war, and whenever I asked him to tell me a war story, what I was told never matched what I saw on tv or in the movies-I found out why he didn't years later from my mom as a teenager who was struggling to under his father who more and more frequently experience ed flashbacks/episodes that started out taking him away from us days and weeks at a time to finally months at a time. Comments: My grandfather Robert (Bob, Bobby) Gene Hutchins was stationed
somewhere in Germany during the Korean War. Due to the NARA fire in
1973 we cannot obtain his records. He was from Centralia, IL and
died there in 1983.

Any information or pictures would be very welcome as I never met
him.

Thanks!

Comments: My brother-in-law is 75 years old. He is wheelchair bound due
to injuries to his ankles and knees. His hands are hindered by
arthritis. I can remember the stories he told me of being Army
Airborne during 1953-1958, the harsh conditions and long
marches. He needs VA assistence but unfortunately the facility
that housed his records burned down, according to the VA. I am
tasked with finding any military information regarding my
brother-in-law, Manual Lino Jr. from San Benito, Texas. Any
help you can provide will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Comments: I'm so happy this site exists.
I am looking for information about my grandfather,
Walter Huff. He
was a sergeant 1st class with the 82nd Airborne
(parachute). He
died in 1976 of heart trouble. He wouldn't talk
about the war so I
am hoping to find someone who knew him and could
tell me a bit
about him and what they went through. Any help is
greatly
appreciated and please feel free to forward my
info onto anyone who
may be able to help. Thank you so much!

Comments: I'm helping a Korean era vet recall what was his 90mm AAA unit in Korea. His memory
is not the best, but recalls training at Ft. Bliss, being assigned to a 90mm AAA unit,
serving in Korea rather than Europe, and getting about a 5 months extension to his 2
yrs of draft military service. A NY resident at that time he was transferred to the 42nd
Division for his inactive reserve service.

Names of 90mm AAA units with service in Korea would be appreciated!
