Comments: I AM LOOKING FOR information re: my fathers time servrd in the 349th infantry, 2nd Bn. He received a medal of occupation (Germany), so I assume he was in Germany. What was their purpose in Germany? What did the 349th crest look like? Where in Germany were they? Are there any vets still living from this outfit? If so, My fathers name is Robert Quinn Rogers, (PFC) The date and place of my fathers entry into active service:08/04/1953, St. Louis. Place of Separation: Fort Sheridan, Illinois. My own research tells me that he that he entered active service 8 days after the fighting stopped in Korea. Can you help me with the question above?

Comments: My father Edward Kreis served in the Korean War, I believe with the 40th Infantry Division because of the combat patch on his uniform. I have many photos of dad with a bunch of names on the back. I see that dad hung around with a group of guys that are captioned inthe back as: Tuck, Greer, Red and Monroe. Most of the photos have Tuck and Greer and dad in them. One photo says, "Our cook, Cpl. Stackhouse.. that really is his name".. Dad's handwriting is sometimes hard to read so I wouldn't be suprised if it was Cpl. Steakhouse. If anyone knows any of these men please get back to me. Thanks

Comments: I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me. I am interested in where an Army infantryman from North Carolina might have participated in basic training during the summer of 1950. I have tried to find a definite answer, but unfortunately cannot. I also do not know anyone who was in that particular situation.
Any help, as well as any experiences you might like to share, would be greatly appreciated.

Comments: My father served in Korea, he was in the infantry from 53 - 54. He joined the Army in nov 1952 from Detroit Michigan, and was discharged from Fort Sheridan, Ill in September 1954. I recently retired from the Marine Corps after 25 years of servive as an Infantryman (grunt), and am in the process of building him a memorial Shadow box for him. I have his DD214 and various other documents that tell an awesome story but I am still missing certain pieces of this this great puzzle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know where he went to basic training or any of his specific information for that matter. I only know what he told me and what i have documentation to support! I have tried to do extensive research into his units and still have a lot of unanswered questions. I know by some of the documention that he was with the certain units ie. 1 September 1954 I have a letter of appreciation signed by Lt. Gerad T. Frey, 1st Lt Inf, Commanding, G Coompany, 27th infantry Regiment (THE WOLFHOUNDS) APO 25. I also have a bronze star citation with Letter "V" device from 7 September 1953 that was awarded to him as a PFC, HEADQUARTERS 25TH INFANTRY DIVISION, APO 86, signed by BY COMMAND OF MAJOR GENERAL GINDER: OFFICAL: J D ALGER, Col CS, Chief of Staff, JOSEPH S. COULTER, Lt Colonel, AGC, Adjutant General. I have been working on this project for many years now and recently discovered this site as an possible sorce of information! Again any help would be greatly apprecated. Semper Fi!
