Inje- livingstone bridge |

Comments: I am looking for those who know INJE, Republic. and anyone who was in the Korean War on May 20- July 20, 1951,
My name is D.I.Choi in Inje County -Local government Office. I am the one in charge of International cooperation. My project is to find the soliders who are deeply related in LivingStone Bridge in Inje so I will let the people in Inje know the exact story about Livingstone Bridge. The story that i know go as follow. If you don't know the Bridge ,Please ask your combat soliders or someone who might know. My email address is doncd@naver.com or call 82-11-7309-7319 thank you very much.
Livingstone Bridge- Heros were died but they are remembered forever.
Inje County, Gangwon Province, Republic of Korea is looking for Mr. Livingstone's family and his combat soldiers who fought for the freedom and died at an away from home. Inje County is planning to celebrate the 48 the anniversary of Livingstone and commemorate the heros in Korean War so that the monument is erected and the people living here try to hand their name down to future generations.
It has been almost 50 years since the Bridge was constructed.
This is the Bridge which is upper stream of Soyang(Hongcheon) river linking Deoksan-ri to Hapkang-ri in Inje County, located on 20km to the north from Hyon-ri,10km to the west from Hangye-ri, Republic of Korea.
In Korean War, 1951, during U.S-Korea joint military operation, A battalion commander, Livingstone(not known his full name) retreated strategically. But river's flood resulted from a sudden shower made it impossible to cross the river so that the artillery battalion had a lot of damages by falling into North Korean and chinese ambush. Many soldiers were died and a lot of military equipments and supplies were lost. The Lieutenant Colonel, Livingstone(Not sure) was severely wounded.
Later He was died at a field hospital. Before he died he lamented bitterly " If there had been a Bridge, our forces not only would not have damaged but also could have winned that battle". He left the Will that was an earnest request saying "If I die , have my wife build a Bridge with private funds at Inje County, the battle field".
After the cease fire agreement, U.S and Korean Army built the Bridge, length 150m, width 3.6m, on Feb. 4,1957. They named the bridge "Livingstone Bridge".
The people living here at Inje County used that bridge very well and always appreciated for him and his combat soldiers who fought for Korea.
In 1970, Inje County rebuilt the bridge with iron concrete and put the name Living Stone Bridge thanks to his self-sacrificing sprite. Inje County erected a monument in memory of the late Mr. Livingstone and his combat soldiers by the side of the bridge.
if anyone knows above key word or those who was in the May 10-July 5, in the 2 division, during the korean war. please let me know.

Comments: I am looking for any information concerning my Dad's service in the Korean War. He was Corporal Patrick Meehan and served in the 2ID, and I believe in the 9th Reg. Last year, he passed away suddenly just as he was beginning to tell us more about his service. I know he was in the May Massacre, Heartbreak and Bloody Ridge actions and was involved with reconnaisance and with 81mm mortar deployment at some point during his time in Korea. He also recalled that he became very ill, perhaps with malaria, late in his enlistment. I would greatly appreciate any info. that you may have.
Thanks. Jim Meehan

Would love to find anyone who knew him. He was friends with Lenny Marcinowski and Art Pierce who lost their lives in the war. Any info would be very appreciated! We miss you so much dad.

Comments: My mother's cousin, Roger, lost his brother Delmar 11 Feb 51. It has always bothered him that he did not know more about his brother's service and death. I researched my father's service in WWII and when he saw what I found he wondered if I could find out something for him about Delmar. Roger is a very nice man and so I hope to help him. Delmar was in the 9th Inf. Reg. of the 2nd Inf. Div.. I have noticed his date of being KIA coincided with the Chinese counteroffiesive that began in seb-Zero temperatures on that 11 Feb 51. I've also seen where family members requesting info mention the 9th being at Hill 355 during the Battle for Hoengsong. If anyone has any intfo concernig Delmar Petrowske, please let me know & I will pass it on to his brother. Thanks, Paul Hennrich

Comments: I am looking for any information on my grandfather's younger brother Jack "Sonny" Weister. He was in South Korea when he was captured, and they sent his body home, but not his dog tags, and my great-grandmother never believed he was dead, because they didn't know for sure if it was his body or not, without the tags. He supposedly died on Feb. 11th, 1951. Anyone who may have any information about him, or if anyone served with him, please contact my grandfather, Wallace Weister, Sr. @ 715-274-3553. ANY information would help to figure out what really happened to him in Korea. Thank You.
