LOOKING FOR THOSE WHO WOULD REMEMBER MY DAD. |
| LYNN NAJDUK MILLS wrote on November 12, 2011 CITY AND STATE: MI UNIT: SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: FAMILY MEMBER Comments: My father was sent out with 3 other men on June 21,1952 to repair communication wires that the N. Koreans sabotaged. When they did, they were ambushed. My dad (John Najduk) was injured and the two others, Joey Moody and Charles Beams were killed. What happened to the forth? If there is anyone alive from this day I would love to know more about it. Dad would never talk about it, so we know very little. Someone had to evacuate him. He never spoke of that. Please e-mail me at LynnsPL81@aol.com Thank you! Keywords: John Najduk Charles Beams Joey Moody June 21, 1952 |

I have just obtained a copy of his discharge records as his files were destroyed in the fire July 12, 1973. Anyway, I just wanted to know if anyone had any recollection of him. If I'm not mistaken he was a radio man, one of the first blacks (so one of my siblings states). As there are 5 of us with a 17 yr span we don't have any clear stories. Anyway, I don't think the unit was a black unit because from what he told me, the military was one of the first places for diversity. He was born in Tennesse and enlisted while living in Detroit, MI.
