Comments: I made this entry because my e-mail address has changed. I started out with Btry A on 1 Sep 50 at Camp Cooke. Held various jobs in the battery and in Bn Hq. Was exec of Btry A when we arrived in Japan and went through the battery test. Then was a Liaison Officer and made a couple of trips around Japan as an umpire for other units taking the battery test. When we got to Korea, I transferred to Div Arty Hq as an Air Observer and also was a duty officer in the Fire Support Coordination Center assigning FO's an AO's fire missions to the different battalions. I left Korea in June '52.

My Dad served in Korea 4/53 - 11/53 as a forward observer in the 980th
FA Battalion, Battery C, in the 40th Infantry Division. (He received
a Bronze Star during his tour of duty. He didn't ask me to write that,

This is for my father. I would like to add his information to this
website. I have several pictures that he had taken in Korea and other
places he travelled that I would like to share with others.

He was in the 24th Inf. Div. 52nd HQ Battery - Fld. Art. And then later
on in the 40th Inf. Div. 980th HQ Bat. - Fld. Art.

He said that he was in Fire Direction Center. He also said that the
40th was a Nat. Guard outfit from California that replaced the 24th.

He arrived in Korea the day before Thanksgiving in 1951 and served there
for 1 year and 13 days. I remember several stories he told me about
certain 'situations' he was in. I am sure he would be happy to hear
from others that were in his division and would like me to show his
pictures from Korea of the men he served with.

Please let me know what I can do for this website. Thank you very much!

Regards,
Cindy Johnson
